The church in Bethlehem had survived more than 1,000 years, through wars and conquests, but its future now seemed in jeopardy. Spray-painted all over its ancient stone walls were the Arabic letters for Hamas. The year was 1994 and the city was about to pass from Israeli to Palestinian control. I was meeting with the church's clergy as an Israeli government adviser on inter-religious affairs. They were despondent but too frightened to file a complaint. The same Hamas thugs who had desecrated their sanctuary were liable to take their lives.

This is a travesty. Obama is shockingly anti-Israel, and has promoted the most extreme Muslim factions in the Middle East and around the world. Pres. Bush is also to blame, as much of the systematic destruction of the Christian community in Iraq took place on his watch. The entire region is descending into chaos, preparing the way for a conflagration that will engulf the globe.
If you have a chance to visit Jerusalem leave Bethlehem off your list of must see places.
Israel should invite every Christian in the Middle East to come live in Israel.
Then proceed to rid Gaza and the West Bank of the Palis. Send them back to Jordan, Lebanon and wherever.
Now see what the Christian world does.
