Obama administration to end funding for Texas health program over state's abortion law
Fox News ^ | 3/9/2012 | AP

The federal government will stop funding a Texas health program that serves 130,000 low-income women because of a state law that bars abortion-affiliated clinics from getting public money, a top U.S. health official said Friday.

The federal money, which covers 90 percent of the state's $40 million program, will be phased out between May and September because the law violates federal regulations requiring that women have a choice in medical care, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said during a trip to Houston. That means the Women's Health Program will join a long list of programs nationwide on the chopping block because of their affiliations with Planned Parenthood or other groups that offer abortions.

The announcement came a day after Texas Gov. Rick Perry pledged to find state money to keep the program afloat, though details remain scarce about where the money would come from. Texas suffered massive spending cuts last year due to a $15 billion deficit, though a state health services official said Friday that Texas would prefer to increase its deficit than completely eliminate the program.

Perry blasted Sebelius' announcement, insisting Medicaid rules give states the right to determine which clinics are qualified to provide women's health care.

Obama's decision proves the Feds are actually funding abortions despite Obama's "Executive Order" that no funding would go to abortions.

Good. Perhaps 100,000 of the 130,000 will now return to Mexico and Central America.

"We have been working with Texas. We're eager to work with Texas to find a solution," Sebelius said. "But if Texas chooses to go down a road that violates the law, we really have no choice." Yeah we have no choice.......THIS REGIME WILL TAKE ANYONE OUT WHO DOESN'T CONFORM WITH THEM.

Well, it is not settled opinion among conservatives and liberals thah Obama is a liar. The liberals don’t care, of course, so long as the “inderpendents” don’t catch on.

So, someone go hit the books, and take a sheet from Planned Abortions and other groups and sue the feds over their specifically targeting clinics for failing to give abortions. Isn't health care under The Pres(id)ent now a right? How DARE those feds shut off a right, simply because they don't agree with the agenda of Texas??

Then again, I don't want the feds paying for health care, or anything else that drives up the deficit, so maybe I should shut up... But still, this seems like easy pickings for a court case.

So the Bam Administration will throw the ‘needy women’ under the bus because the state has a fundamental disagreement with king tyrant’s pet abortion policy. Well there ya go. Politics trumps all with these hacks.

"Do abortions or your state won’t get federal funding..."

Last I noticed, Texas pays more into the Fed than they get back for it. They cut Fed funding ... we stop payments to the Fed from Texas.

I’m all for the Feds not funding it but it’s interesting that all we hear about is how the “Feds don’t fund abortions” until the state stops the Feds from funding abortions.

Well, he won't mess with us here in Massachusetts.... we vote for him!

(shamed to say)

((now, if you just agree to vote for zer0, he'll restore funding))

Governor Perry fights back .....

“Gov. Rick Perry today said he is unwilling to let more than 100,000 low-income Texas women pay the price for the Obama Administration’s unwavering loyalty to abortion providers and their affiliates.

The governor has instructed Texas Health and Human Services Commissioner Tom Suehs to work with legislative leadership identify state funding to continue services provided by the Women’s Health Program (WHP) if the Obama Administration follows through with their threat to cut federal funding and kick Texas women out of the program.

Gov. Perry has also notified President Obama that we will not stand by as his administration attempts to violate states’ rights under the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.”

Go Perry!

Who's really conducting a war on women to satisfy a political ideology? It's the Obama regime.

Obama should be raked over the coals for preferring to risk the health care of these 130,000 women than let Texas care for its own as they see fit. We all know if he was Republican, we'd never hear the end of it.

Don’t cite the bastardized Supreme Court authority allowing the Feds to condition monies to the States. Would the Founders be able to comprehend this controversy in terms of the Constitution they established? No. The left with complicity of feckless Republicanshave managed over the last 100 years to turn our Federalist republican Government upside down. Viva le counter-revolution!

Well that’s easy, just tell the Feds you’re suspending IRS payroll deductions and defering them to the state. Problem solved. Pave your own highways and keep the change.
