Presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich on Friday called on Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta to resign, rebuking him for telling a congressional panel that the U.S. would “seek international permission” before intervening in the ongoing bloodshed in Syria.

“I have been told that the secretary of defense has suggested that international agreements override the Congress,” Gingrich told supporters in Gulfport, Mississippi. “If he believes that, he should resign tonight.”

Responding to a statement that the U.S. was placing military resolutions of the United Nations, NATO and the Arab League ahead of those made by Congress, Panetta told the Senate Armed Services Committee on Wednesday: "You know, our goal would be to seek international permission.

“If he believes that, he should resign tonight”

...or be kicked out of office tomorrow.

Totally agree. If the Republicans have any brains (I know, I know...questionable) they will play that clip over and over and over again during the coming months until everyone has it memorized. That sums up the Obama foreign policy so thoroughly and so well. Couple that with this, http://news.investors.com/article/603583/201203071856/aegis-missile-defense-secrets-to-moscow.htm
and you have a double indictment.

We can discuss all day long about flip-flopping and differences of policy and wives and such. However, Newt is the only one who really gets the big picture. The man understands that there are very bad people on this rock. He also understands that Keynesian economic policies don't work and never will. He has apologized for his Pelosi/Newt couch thing, and apologized/wisen-up for other. How few politicians do so?

That said, I doubt he will be the GOP nominee. It's a done deal for "pretty" guy (Romney) who claims ALL. We are screwed!

Personally, I kinda hope bambi has 4 more years to try and kill our Constitutional heritage. Once he believes he has the mandate to initiate European socialism, Joe-six-pack and Soccor-mom may wise up.

I'm not a conspiracy person, but I can see Constitutional patriots fighting back in ways that will bring the fedgov down upon them. If bambi keeps pushing, he is going to find a world of hurt. Mark these words.

Absolutely no threat to the Presidency from this nobody on a forum. I would never want to see any harm come to our President.

Ultra frightening.
I saw this post on another site.
I would appreciate any Freepers’ input as to whether there is any truth to it:

“On December 26, 1933, 49 Statute 3097, Treaty Series 881, “Convention on Rights and Duties of States”, CONGRESS replaced STATUTES with international law, placing
all states under international law.
On December 9, 1945, International Organization Immunities Act relinquished every public office of the United States to the United Nations. 22 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) 92.12-92.31 FR Heading “Foreign Relationship” states that oath is required to take office.
Title 8 USC 1481 states, once oath of office is taken citizenship is relinquished, thus the oath taker becomes a foreign entity, agency, or state. That means every public office is a foreign state, even all political subdivisions; i.e., every single court is considered a separate foreign entity.
Title 22 USC, “Foreign Relations and Intercourse”, Chapter 11 identifies all public officials as foreign agents.

We Americans will not lay down on our backs and “surrender.”

Fight for the Constitution, our Freedom and Liberty, or die trying. Dig deep within yourself for that courage and fight to save all that is near and dear to you on this earth.

Enough with the defeatist talk. Buck up and join the rest of us who don’t give in, who don’t give up. Remember God helps those who help themselves. Pick up the Flag, pick up the gun, say your prayers, and fight!

Unbelievable. The DOD Secretary is suggesting that the United Nations be the end all of American foreign policy regarding who we attack?

I am flabbergasted.

This is what happens when we put ball-less ideological punks in charge. Sheesh, this guy was the "chief of staff" for clinton if I remember correctly. Now he's the head of our Armed Forces and talking this shit?

Does no one in this administration have ANY cojones to speak out? Are the top level military so beholding to their careers that they will allow the bad guys to gain strength and eventually kill/main my children and grand-children? Is there not ONE grown up in this executive administration?

Personally, I wouldn't have a problem with the Joint Chiefs of Staff orchestrating a coup against the so-called civilian leadership at this point. Yes, I prefer civilian leadership over military, but it's getting to the point of survival!

Iran is going to light up the Middle East...watch. But the Marxist bambi wants to talk and talk and talk. "Nothing off the table", as bambi says. Does anyone in the know really believe that? Anyone? Bueller?

“You know, our goal would be to seek international permission. And we would come to the Congress and inform you and determine how best to approach this, whether or not we would want to get permission from the Congress.”

Resign Hell Impeached.

Newt called them out on it. Waiting on Mittens and Santorum response.

This is Precisely why we need Newt as President. Santorum could finish his learning as VP.

Time and again Newt puts the truth right out there for all to look at as it needs to be....makes me proud to here our next US President put it on the line.

“We do not have a United ‘Nations’ Secretary of Defense....We have a United ‘States’ Secretary of Defense.” -— Newt

But apparently Panettta doesn’t see himself as ‘Our’ Sec. of Defense...but serves the United Nations first and foremost.....is that not once again treasonous?

Santorum, unfortunately, isn’t a TEA Party kind of guy.

He is more like Romney, and supportive of establishment, big statist-type government.

Newt is really going after this administration.

He's exposing them and will do so more with Obama as this moves along....Newt's made it clear he's going to expose Obama for what he is....and frankly he's the only one going for the juglar...the others are "playing" in the sandbox while Americas being torn to shreds.

Sickening...I saw him say this, that they would seek international community permission and then maybe, if things seemed like it was necessary, inform Congress and seek congressional approval...but not necessarily.

Sessions called him on it, said he could not believe what he was hearing and asked Panetta, since he had served in Congress, didn’t he think this was about the most crazy thing he could imagine hearing.

Funny thing is, Panetta said, “yes.”

Where the hell are Boehner and McConnell ...

Boehner and McConnell need to be packing their bags for a permanent trip home. And when Boehner goes, Eric Cantor needs to be sent home, too.

Right. And playing in the sandbox is also what our current Congress of Republicans seems to be doing also. What I feel Newt would do is come in and go for THEIR jugulars as well ...

No wonder they’re all afraid ...lol.

Newt truly is the BEST representative and would be the best fighter for us, as People of this country, who are weary of the ineptitude of our Congress as well as Presidential administration.

Gosh, I’d give anything to see the administration Newt would hand assemble. It would be lethal.

Remember the UN corruption during the war in Iraq? it is amazing Kofi Anon is not in prison.

In a fair an just world, Kofi Anon would be in prison.

That's why I'm not surprised that Kofi Anon is not in prison.
