Newt Gingrich in Mobile Friday Night(Local News Video Report)

Another presidential candidate visits Mobile. Last night Rick Santorum made his pitch to voters. Tonight, Newt Gingrich made his, rallying a large crowd and laying down his vision for American energy policies.

Well they've set up the car barn to fit up to 500 people tonight and as soon as the doors opened, hundreds flooded in.

Holding signs and waving flags an anxious crowd waited for Newt Gingrich.

Carol Peterson said, "I'm really excited to see him because I've never really seen him up close."

Introduced by his wife, Newt Gingrich stepped on stage and electrified his supporters. The setting: Hendersons classic car barn in Tillmans Corner. Surrounded by automobiles from an era when gallons of gas were sold by the cents, Gingrich promised to bring down gas prices by opening up the us to more drilling.

New Gingrich said, "That means jobs in the us, a better balance in trade, a major step towards energy independence."

The former House Speaker has an uphill battle, trailing his GOP opponents in delegates and states carried. But that didn't matter to people here.

Don Hinton said, "I'm aware that things don't look that great, but as far as to represent the people he seems to be the one with the most knowledge and background."

Linda King said, "I think the primary is absolutely the place to vote your conscious I'm just weighing it all up, but when we get to the nov elections, we need to get behind whoever the Republican candidate is."

Alabama and Mississippi will hold their primaries this Tuesday, In Tillmans corner, Anthony Pura, for WEAR-TV ABC 3.

Tomorrow Newt Gingrich will be in Baldwin County. He will be attending the Republican Coffee Club at a meeting tomorrow at Mama Lou's Restaurant in Robertsdale.

The meeting begins at 8 a.m. with speeches from the Baldwin County Circuit Judge candidates. Gingrich should arrive between 9 and 9:30 a.m. The public is invited.

The next 72 hours are crucial to Newt’s campaign, please, everyone, do everything you can for Newt through the weekend and Monday. Making calls is very very important, and today the calls were about 10% more pro-Newt than they were yesterday, and we need to keep building on that.

some of the phoners are exhausted, and even if you just make 10 calls EACH DAY, it would give someone a little break. ......Today the phone banks were jammed, but the weekend is when everyone tends to have other things to do. PLEASE HELP NEWT!!
