California Could End Up Deciding Republican Presidential Nomination

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – The Republican presidential contest remains unsettled, and California could be the state that finally decides it. Super Tuesday turned out much like a children’s birthday party – everybody left with a prize, according to former California Republican Party chair Ron Nehring.
“Everyone is going to stay in this contest throughout the month of March,” said Nehring. “I’d be very surprised if anyone dropped out.”
KCBS’ Doug Sovern Reports: Republican Presidential Nomination Could Be In California's Hands Even though he didn’t land a knockout punch, Mitt Romney remained the front-runner and added to his already significant lead in delegates according to Bill Whalen with Stanford’s Hoover Institution.
“You’re going to hear a growing chorus of Republican insiders, and you’re going to see more Republican leaders in Washington and elsewhere come out of the woodwork now to endorse Romney, and essentially try to tell the other fellas that they consider the race over, and it’s time to move on,” said Whalen.

I’m looking forward to it. For presidential elections, we always still have polls open and people voting long after the networks have called the election based upon returns in earlier time zones. I’d like it for once if the rest of the country had to wait on us.

The land of nuts, fruits, and flakes takes a perfectly good election, and messes it up, yet again. It must be a real uphill battle for conservatives there. All I can say is keep fighting, and keep the faith.

I can certainly understand the frustration of a California FReeper when it comes to feeling irrelevant in elections. Don’t take this the wrong way but it seems to me that the Golden State has shown itself to be, just a tad, mind you… wacky, fruity, leftist, bizarre, communist, psycho, Marxist, fascist, idiotic and brain dead – all at the same time. And those are just the Republicans.
The Democrats are… well, the English language hasn’t come up with the appropriate words to describe them yet so let’s just say their redeeming qualities aren’t quite as cute and adorable as those previously mentioned for their Republican counterparts.
We do not call elections early to make you feel irrelevant. We call elections early to let you know that we are ignoring you. So far you (not you personally, your state) haven’t taken the hint. We are hopeful, however, that eventually you will catch on and just stop voting completely.
To be fair, we are not trying to single you out. For years we have been trying to find a way to get Massachusetts, New York, Vermont and Maryland on Pacific Time so that we can ignore them as well. The logistics have been a nightmare though.
CA is a big prize. Newt’s the only one advertising here. Radio spots for the last two months.

Right now, Texas Delegates are allotted proportionately. The Texas GOP is trying to change it to winner-take-all. That would be great news for Newt.

If it comes down to CA, you can bet Newt will be all over it.
Don’t forget that Reagan came out of California, and in fact the fruits and nuts had elected him Governor before that. So California is certainly not all bad.
