Nine years ago, the United States invaded Iraq after telling the world that Saddam Hussein had covert weapons programs that could build nuclear arms. In the end, nothing was found. Today, acting on similar fears, Israel is threatening to attack Iran.
While much is known about Iran's nuclear activities from U.N. inspection visits, significant questions remain uncertain, fueling fears of worst-case scenarios and calls for new Mideast military action.
This much shapes the anxieties: In just one decade, Iran's modest nuclear program has expanded into a mature operation that some experts say has the capability to produce a warhead in less than a year.
And this much is verified: Iran has the equipment and raw materials to produce the fissile core of a nuclear weapon, as does any country that can produce its own reactor fuel.

Just as with 0, they aren’t dumb but willingly ignorant.
The Obama administration began promoting this line approximately three weeks ago and now it is being trumpeted by the MSM repetitively. The point is that Obama despite the tough talk will simply not risk a shooting war in the narrow confines of the Persian Gulf with Iran that is armed with shore based anti ship missiles. Significant American causalities or the loss of capital ships would cause Obama to lose the election. Obama simply will not take that risk.Israel cannot do the job alone and is being constrained by the Obama administration. Iran will get its nuclear arms. As a courtesy to Obama, they probably won’t make any announcements prior to the November election.
This notion that WMD are some foolish bogeyman dreamed up by war-mongering Americans has got to die. The dangers are very real. When pushed on the matter, the experts know that it is so, but for political reasons they often find it expedient to laugh at the concept.
Do you remember the intel-sat pics of that supposedly russian(-syrian) convoy moving “material” (WMDs?) out of Iraq and into the Bekka Valley in late ‘02/ early-’03?
I do. Then very quickly, they were *sanitized* from a US Govt (I think it was...) website. I tried WayBackMachine and couldn’t find them, either. I should have d/ld and saved them to my HD. Dammit. I’m still kicking myself, because I didn’t think they could do such *cleansing*.
Now, I know better. Obummer’s background is another instance of govt-controlled *sanitizing* of the historical record. IMO.
This might be related to it:

I know, I know: WND is the “source”. But I remember *seeing* pics of small/medium/large crates and very long crates (missiles?) being loaded on to semis, with lots of military guarding the op. The callouts in the pics said Spetnaz DF or something like that.
Too many miles ago, to be crystal clear anymore CC_g. Wish I’d saved it all for posterity when it was available on the Net.
When Iran announces that they have developed a nuclear bomb, you won’t hear a peep from George Jahn and how wrong he was.
