Knives and other bladed weapons mysteriously get far less admiration compared to guns, but they are truly deserving, and should always be thought of as an admirable complement to guns. If you carry one, you should carry the other.

A very important quote by a knife expert that needs to be considered:

“Most knife assaults aren’t ‘fights’, they are assassinations.”

Most of us have seen many examples of gunfights on TV and in the movies. We even imagine we know the “rules”, such as the use of cover, counting bullets as they are used so you know when you have to reload, etc.

But the typical rule involving a knife is that, if the person who has the knife can close the gap between them and their opponent, they win.

Yet think of what happens when there is a pause in the action. Something that happens all too frequently in gunfights not involving stupid people, is that both gunmen stay behind cover for quite a while, for all sorts of reasons.

But this is very dangerous, because it assumes that your opponent just has a gun, so the fight is gun to gun, with the rules of a gunfight. But if he can close the gap, he can actually get *inside* the optimal gun range, where they are harder to shoot.
