I'm hoping the "rough service" ones might be a bit more robust.
About 3 years ago we replaced the bulb in our back hallway ceiling light. That thing goes on and off several times each day - every day. When he changed the bulb, MGD brought it over to me and said, "You know, I just realized that I've never replaced that bulb ever before." We had been in our house about 24 years at the time, and I doubt the bulb was new when we moved in.
Miller Genuine Draft never does any chores for me.
They are, they have made them with smaller filaments that give out more light with the same wattage.
Rough service have always been around but mainly in commercial supply stores for portable lights and light strings on construction jobs.
I have a gun case that uses a 25 watt long tube incandescent and for a couple of years the most I got out of a bulb that stays on constantly was 27 days.
I put a rheostat (dimmer) in the line and slightly reduced the voltage and the bulb that is in it has lasted for 36 years now.
