Ding. Ding. The Chinese make most computer equipment. This presents a security problem for the West, in general, the U.S., in particular. Free trade is not only not in our national interest, it is ruining our economy. Anyone who supports free-trade, especially with China, is out of their gourd.

I used to work for BAE. You can not imagine how many chinese nationals they employ with TS clearances. Its probably the employees who were the source of the data leak and not hackers.

This is what happens when you depend upon foreign educated engineers instead of emphasizing math and science domestically. This is one of the major weaknesses of our defense industry.

We would travel to Europe with company laptops with personal, company, and govt files for NATO contracts. Hacking and friendly (read FRANCE) spying was so prevalent that we now get a stripped travel laptop with just the data needed for the meeting, etc; and no company blackberries, or smart phones are allowed to be carried. Security even provides an international burn phone for use.

They also don’t have the R and D exspences to go with it.They basically got everything free of charge. The only thing they haven’t gotten yet are the engines. No telling when they’ll steal those plans.

Not my experience all. Where did you work?

By the way, clearances are granted by the DOD, not the contractors.

Austin. I worked with a guy who couldn't get a secret clearance because he was from Puerto Rico. There was a Israeli citizen who was not allow to work on a non classified program (TAA required) because he was born in Russia.
