Problem is, criminals are criminals because they disobey laws. The creepiest of criminals gladly ignore serious laws — the kind that impose big penalties for assault and murder. So, it is impossible to get them in voluntary compliance with gun bans.

That very simple, clear logic eludes far too many people. Or, I suppose, far too many people simply refuse to face it.

IMHO the Colorado Supreme Court missed part of the target by a wide margin.

The regents of Colorado University and lower court argued that the university campus was a unique, quasi-independent political body.

Personally, I would have agreed to that position. Then, since they are an independent political body cancel any and all economic support to the university system, withdraw any state sponsored accreditation activity, require all employees of the university system to apply as resident aliens, required the colleges to issue their own identification papers including license plates, and finally require the colleges to pay the prevailing costs for water and power imported from Colorado. After all, aren't they living and working in an independent political state that can ignore Colorado's legislation?

Let the regents understand, at the personal - out of their wallet - level exactly how privileged they are and how much support the derive from Colorado.

How long would they continue to act as either a 5-year bully or an unreconstructed 1960’s student radical when they are held responsible for their actions?
