Eric Holder Plays Texas Hold 'Em In Voter ID Suit
Investor's Business Daily ^ | March 13. 2012 | IBD editorials

Voting Rights: The most politicized attorney general in American history takes on Texas' Voter ID law as discriminatory and intimidating to minorities, and tries to make American elections safe for vote fraud.

The Justice Department's civil rights division, the same group that dropped the case of a group of New Black Panthers wearing military garb and carrying billy clubs as they stood outside a Philadelphia polling place in 2008, has filed an objection in U.S. District Court to Texas' voter identification law on the grounds it intimidates minorities and suppresses minority voter turnout.

Photo IDs and the requirement that they be shown are ever present in our society — from cashing a check to boarding a plane to entering Eric Holder's own Department of Justice. Yet Holder, who once said criticism of him and his boss, President Obama, was due to their skin color, sees racism in Texas' move to guarantee the sanctity of the ballot box.

Requiring some kind of identification to prove you are who you say you are when voting was one of the proposals in 2005 by the Commission on Federal Election Reform chaired by Jimmy Carter and James Baker, two individuals not known for racist inclinations.

In the objection, Thomas Perez, chief of Justice's civil rights division who exonerated the New Black Panther thugs, said that Texas data showed that anywhere from 6% to 10% of Hispanics don't have one of the seven acceptable photo IDs issued by the state or federal government. It completely ignores the fact that the state's election-identification certificates are free.

The empirical evidence shows that voter ID laws do not suppress minority voting.

The states should tell the judges to Go f—k themselves as the 2008 Supreme Court decision has already be determined...

If the judge have a problem, then arrest them for violating their oath’s

This is just a harassment suit. The JD will lose and they know it because the SC has already ruled on voter ID.

I am beginning to think that it is time to ignore laws that infringe on the majority - especially voters rights.

In no way does requiring identification have any negative effects on minorities or anyone else. It is necessary to prevent the ongoing increase in voter fraud.

The statement by the JD needs to be ignored and voter ID enforced at election time. Maybe it is time to revolt against unjust laws from the Federal Government.

Governor Perry?

I would think it would be racist to claim minorities are too stupid to get ID cards.

Yes, they are just hoping that they can tie this up in court long enough to to screw with the primaries, and perhaps the national election.

How did these scared and intimidated "US Citizens" register to vote without valid ID in the first place?

If these legal US Citizens were not to scared to show their valid ID card so they could to register to vote, why are these US Citizens suddenly scared to show the same valid ID to cast a vote?

The problem for Holder is that while the other players are playing Hold ‘em, he is playing go fish. And they are laughing at him.

I would like to see Texas take Holder to court and request not only that the attempt to influence the election in Texas be blocked, but also to have sanctions put on Holder and his DOJ, and if they try to interfere again in this election to have them held in contempt of court and banned from bringing any further cases against the State of Texas in Federal courts.

Texas State Attorney General Greg Abbott is already all over this.

He's going to kick Holder's ass, again.

“Perez has roped some career guys at Justice into this battle. They will get fired first come january.”
*********************************************************
Come January, not only will Obama’s political appointees be swept away, a good number of career employees who collaborated with the illegal and anti-American Holder Department of INJUSTICE will also have to be quickly removed from their careers as tools of the Oppressors. The Department of INJustice will have to, once again, become the Dept of JUSTICE populated by honest and patriotic men and women. The many crimes committed by Holder and his operatives (in DOJ and subordinate Agencies such as ATF, FBI & DEA) will have to be investigated (once they are NO LONGER BEING COVERED UP by a corrupt administration) and ALL people who assisted in carrying out those crimes or covering them up will have to be held accountable (if they do not first begin, to save their own skins, to cooperate with the honest and unfettered investigators who will be brought in).

Senior Executive Service (SES) and lower level “career” “collaborators” will be easy to deal with. It will be very easy to give the SES level employees the “opportunity” to either accept reassignment to places such Alaska or to a newly organized office in suburban Ciudad Juárez (now wouldn’t that just be peachy, and well deserved, for these low-lives?) or to resign their office. Some of the more corrupt offices can be reorganized and downsized substantially. Grade levels can be lowered. Generally, the folks who reveled in their opportunity to oppress the American people could have their turn at having their lives made miserable.

I sure hope so! Am really tired of the oppress the voter argument for simply wanting to verify voter id. Fraud has become rampant during elections!

Let's see, the DoJ is opposed to folks producing an ID to exercise their franchise, yet we have some legislators in California pushing for a law banning felons from entering sporting events. So, it is wrong to prevent someone from committing voter fraud, but it is acceptable to prevent felons from watching a football game.

Very bump-to-the-top. George W. Bush made a huge mistake when he did not scour the substantially politicized Civil Service the Clintons left behind.

It came back to bite him in the form of Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame, Richard Clarke, and James Hansen.
