I have a problem with that. The man was on his 4th deployment, had a brain injury and had problems at home. The army had no business sending him into a war zone.

When the insanity plea is used, the defendant is not denying that he/she committed the criminal offense in question. In actuality, he/she is admitting that he/she was responsible for the crime.Insanity defenses are rarely successful.

If he is found not guilty by reason of mental or medical defect, then so be it. But otherwise, none of that excuses the plain old murder of nine innocent children.
This is going to be a capital case. That’s just the way it is.
