The U.S. Senate on Tuesday resoundingly rejected a sweeping measure to open the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and other protected areas to drilling as well as approve construction of the Keystone pipeline project.
The vote was the first time in four years the Senate has voted on a measure including ANWR drilling, and it failed miserably. The proposal needed 60 votes to pass and avoid a filibuster. It received only 41 votes in favor, with 57 senators against.

Sen. Pat Roberts’s (R-Kan.) amendment, which failed 41-57, would have also extended several energy efficiency and renewable fuels tax incentives and extend a pay freeze for federal workers, among other provisions.
Not exactly just a vote on ANWR.
Including Begich, three Democrats voted for the measure: Claire McCaskill of Missouri and Joe Manchin of West Virginia. Seven Republicans voted against it: Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins of Maine; Scott Brown of Massachusetts; Bob Corker of Tennessee; Jim DeMint of South Carolina; Marco Rubio of Florida; and Mike Lee of Utah.

Why won’t these folks keep it straight forward on one topic instead of giving other reasons to vote against it?

This was a junk amendment.

With a gallon of gas at this price the only people to blame are politicians. Obama for doing every possible thing to put us at the mercy of the cartel. The Senate for going along instead of serving those who elect them. Retribution at the ballot box, guaranteed!

Perhaps because they represent coastal states and other parts of the bill give them "cover"?
We need to get a provision passed into law that any bill other than the budget, must be less than 200 words and focus on one item. Anyone voting for it has to stand up and read it into the record.
The budget should be less than 10 pages.
I see our “Mama’s little Corker” is once again on the wrong side of the issue....pretty bad when a Tennesseean gets together with the liberal Maine twins and liberal Scott Brown...what a disappointment. Some of the others are a real surprise, too.

How can there be a financial trust fund when the Federal Government is broke 40 % of every year?

I read every government “trust fund” to mean slush fund.
Read post 5 before you make up your mind.
This was a bad amendment, the original article I posted at first was misleading.
Did you ever stop to think that there might have been very good reasons to oppose it? The bill was larded up with all sorts of tax giveaways that had nothing to do with drilling in ANWR.
