Just the alert so far.
Bush’s fault!
But... but... but... the LAW says you can’t carry a gun in a Federal building. This isn’t possible!
(Note: It’s not legal to carry in a courthouse in Florida. Texas might be different.)

Police Capture Suspected Gunman After 1 Killed, 3 Wounded at Texas Courthouse
Yep. I was just there at that very courthouse building for jury duty this morning. Case got dismissed, and I left about an hour before all this happened.
Yah, here in WA too. I think courthouses are pretty universally off limits. Not that it stops stuff like this, of course...
URGENT: At least one person is dead and three others wounded after a gunman opened fire Wednesday at a Texas courthouse, Fox affiliate KRIV-TV reported.
The alleged shooter, armed with a rifle, is believed to be holding hostages in a building near the Jefferson County Courthouse in Beaumont, Texas, according to the station.
KFDM-TV reported that the deceased victim is an elderly woman. The condition of the three other victims is unknown.
One victim was reportedly discovered in the basement of the courthouse, while the three others were found in the parking lot.
The courthouse remains on lockdown.
Good for you. Jury Duty sounds boring while all the gunfire happens outside. heh
>>Police responded to the call of shots fired at the courthouse at about 11 a.m.
The suspect left the courthouse and was inside the XCEL building two blocks from the courthouse at Milam and Park, next to the Chamber of Commerce. Employees were able to take away his gun and police took him into custody. The man was transported by ambulance to a hospital.
One woman in her 20’s was taken by ambulance to a hospital. She had several gunshot wounds.
Another victim was also taken to Christus with several gunshot wounds.

BEAUMONT, Texas -
A man shot and ran over his daughter at a courthouse in Beaumont, police said.
The shooting happened at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1149 Pearl Street, on Wednesday morning.
“The shooter was there for a court hearing,” Riley said. “The shooter shot and ran over his daughter,” said Carol Riley with the Beaumont Police Department.
The age, identity and condition of the daughter have not been released.
Judge Larry Gist said the shooter was being tried on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Riley said at least one other person was shot at the courthouse.
According to the NBC affiliate in Beaumont, two people were killed. Riley said she could not confirm that.
The shooter was also wounded by police as he fled, Gist said.
He ran to a nearby business that had about 80 people inside. SWAT team officers negotiated with him and he was taken into custody.
The shooter’s name and condition were not released.
Aw, geez... that’s awful.
The shootings may have been outside in parking lot or on street etc.
So I gather this happened -outside- the court house?
Oh, I hate these stories. Prayers up!
Prayers for the remaining family members. This man needs to be put in the express lane for the death penalty.
Oh, wow, what a blessing!
No kidding, this story just got worse and worse as I read thru it. Just horrible.
if one of them hostages was carrying their own gun, this would be over in a flash.
oh wait. if they ban guns from courthouses, this couldn’t happen. so it must not be.
all part of your imagination folks...
Angry, White, TeaParty, male, non-union worker, related to George Bush, with a carry permit, no doubt!
Another court house shooting?
Hmmmm
I’m gonna go way out on a limb here and predict that the woman in her mid-20’s is the wife and the elderly woman that was killed is her attorney. This sounds like a family court thing.
I could be dead wrong, and if I am, well, I was wrong. :-)
Very sketchy details at this time.

One of the victims is the man’s daughter, not wife.
He was to face charges that he sexually abused his daughter who is mentally deficient.
Info so far is that he both shot her and ran over her with his vehicle, outside the courthouse.
Some security!
Was the wife one of the injured? Who was the elderly lady that was killed? I’ll read updates.
Thanks!
Yes, some victims found in parking lot. Overhead shot on CNN showed the suspect’s car, door open (he must have been pulled from it). On the sidewalk there were what looked like markers
for found bullet shells (evidence). That’s all from CNN
taking feed from a local station
Angry,White,TeaParty,male,non-union worker,related to George Bush,with a carry permit
If any two of those apply we can expect a statement from the WH. Pelosi. etc..
If he’s not White. Dem. Union. etc
crickets
you starting to get the sense that they’re running some sort of “Fast and Furious” operation domestically?
I wonder if this was some sort of Honor Killing?
It's clear that wanton violence has increased since Obama took office. This tragic incident adds to the daily reports of flash mobs attacking innocent whites, school shootings on the rise, the skyrocketing crime rate, murders (black-on-black and black-on-white), armed robberies and so on.
A president operating outside of the rule of law has created an environment where lawlessness is now the rule.
In NM it isn’t illegal, though there are signs saying it will be prosecuted it cannot be done legally because the State’s Constitution prohibits it (Art II, Sec 6).
In fact, considering this case, and the multiple USSC cases where they said that the police have no affirmative obligation to any [particular] private citizen’s protection; any court which demands your presence w/o charges yet disarms you (ie jury duties) is abridging your right to protection.
buy a lottery ticket...stat....lol
glad you are safe !
Fast and Furious: Mexico blows up in their faces, and now all of a sudden we have a school shooting in Cleveland, a psychiatric hospital shooting in Pittsburgh, and this courthouse shooting, all within a couple of weeks? Seems a bit convenient to me.
I don’t know anything about a wife.
I haven’t heard who the elderly lady was.
Now mind you, I’m relaying reports I’m reading here on FR from those who took the reports from news media.
And it was here that I read he shot and ran over the daughter. Maybe that’s wrong...as to who that victim was. But the reports said daughter.
And the charge he was facing was that he sexually assaulted a daughter who is mentally deficient.
I put two and two together and thought he ran over and shot the daughter who was the victim of his sexual assault.
Maybe, maybe not.
Good people forcibly disarmed by these fatal laws.
Not legal to carry in the courthouse here in Texas either.
“The woods are lovely, dark and deep, and I have promises to keep...”
Minnesota: Felony unless with a permit you give advance written notice to the sheriff in the county of the courthouse.
Assuming you do that, you may still have a court order barring the presence of weapons near the court offices, court rooms, and related areas, for which the violation is likely a misdemeanor.
the courthouses in WA have metal detectors
at the public entrance.
‘No chance’ of getting a gun inside except for the bailiff.
Just dang. Horrifying story.
That’s impossible. There are signs forbidding privately owned firearms on the premises. Nobody would bring a firearm to a location where they are not allowed. That’s why there are no privately owned firearms in Chicago.
Thanks Ramius.
It's those danged Bible-thumping Christians trying to force their sexual morality into laws. If only he had been allowed to sexually abuse his daughter this would not have happened.
May I be the first to say it: Santorum's fault...
Hold your fire! It’s a common fact that vindictive baby mamas falsely accuse biodads of sexual abuse of the children ALL the time to get a “leg up” on a custody battle and all those cash prizes (child support).
Doesn’t excuse the shooting but the frustration is often palpable as the courts automatically take the stance “women and children don’t lie.”
And yes, I’m a woman.
