I wish my area was the same. There are those would be all right in the law enforcement community, but there are enough that do not feel that way, including members of the judiciary, that it is a difficult decision to make to do that kind of thing. Though I would never ever in a million years violate the law, it does make one wonder about those instances in which one forgets to disarm before going in because you have spent the money and experimented enough with your carry technique that you do not think of the fact that you are armed. I know some to whom that has happened, but as long as there are no security check points (of which there are more all the time), the concealment normally will be enough to keep the dogs at bay.

It only takes one hard ass to ruin your day.

My luck I’d have a heart attack and the EMTs would find it.

When I am in areas that are not my home stomping grounds I feel the same way. I am very close to the Uncle who is a judge and especially close to one cousin who is on a nearby SWAT team. Because of those family connections I am well aware of law enforcement opinion in our county and surrounding counties. It is a blessing.

Since we are a rural county and surrounded by the same, we also know other law enforcement people and a couple of judges fairly well. They are good people, some friends and some just acquaintances but it goes without saying that their well being is also of primary importance to me. Being in an environment where we know these people familiarly also probably gives some license in carrying. I am confident in the knowledge of those family and friends though, that they are 100% in support of 2nd amendment rights. Others from outside our area would not know this so it is probably a unique advantage to us old timers.

Funny you should mention that. I was in a collision 150 miles from home in January. I was incapacitated enough that the ambulance personnel had to remove me from my car. I was conscious and the first police officer to arrive on sight was all the good things we want our officers to be. I did have those first moments of "oh $hi+" because I was in unfamiliar territory, I was incapacitated and I did have explain to the officer where my 2 weapons were located in the car as I was giving him permission to get my license and insurance out of my purse. I had not been in that kind of situation before. I know that I am all legal, but I wasn't in this home area and you just don't know when you will run into a gun control freak. And that officer was great. It was no big deal at all. But, my already high anxiety from being bashed into climbed about 80 notches telling the officer where my weapons were.

As a sidenote to that, I was put in the ambulance and taken to the hospital. My car was towed. In Texas we aren't supposed to have firearms in hospitals but I did not want my guns going with the car being towed either. I didn't know what they would do but when I asked the police officer he just put the 2nd weapon that wasn't a "purse gun" into my purse also, zipped it up and the EMT carried it into the ambulance with us and nothing was ever said as the purse was kept with me at the hospital. That's just a scenario that I had never thought about with CHL. I definitely appreciate that sort of law enforcement and EMT people. They just "get it."
