Fox News Poll: President Obama tops Republican contenders in matchups

President Barack Obama continues to top each of the Republican contenders in general election matchups, according to a Fox News poll released Wednesday that also found a majority of American voters see signs the economy is turning around.

Nearly half of voters -- 47 percent -- approve of the job Obama is doing as president, while 45 percent disapprove. That’s little changed from last month when 48 percent approved and 45 percent disapproved (February 6-9, 2012). Although the president’s ratings on handling the economy are upside-down, they have improved over the last three months. The new poll shows a 54-percent majority of voters disapproves of Obama on the economy, down from 62 percent in December. Forty-two percent approve, up from 35 percent three months ago.

Almost 6 in 10 voters see “signs the nation’s economy has started turning around” (58 percent), and 44 percent think the Obama administration has made the economy better -- that’s up from 34 percent who felt that way last summer (July 2011).

Agreed. Obama is bent on crony totalitarianism like Stalin, Hitler and Mussolini. The Dems have bought off 1/2 the country with entitlements and now healthcare.

47 percent of approve of his job

53 percent voted for him and that means six percent are not happy with him in total. That is significant in my opinion.

With 47% approval and counting all the illegal votes, he just might make it. Republicans need to really ban together on this one. No messing around.

A Republican president with this economic train wreck of a record wouldn’t be in the 30s never mind close to 50.

The media has done a great job propping up this incompetent clown.

“The Fox News poll is based on landline and cell phone interviews with 912 randomly-chosen registered voters nationwide and was conducted under the joint direction of Anderson Robbins Research (D) and Shaw & Company Research (R) from March 10 to March 12. For the total sample, it has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.”
I was trying to find the raw data for the poll but it was not linked to the article. However I did come across an article for the Weekly Standard May 20, 2011 that stated Fox News switched it’s polling firm from Opinion Dynamics to
Anderson Robbins and Shaw and Company research and that they tilt Democratic. So not sure the poll is beleivable.

Registered voters is BS. Likely voters will tilt much more republican.

The fact people consider reelecting Obama is tragic.

Spongebob could be elected president in the current environment, provided he makes an unqualified promise to

1) reverse Obamacare

2) loosen restrictions on domestic oil exploration, and

3) roll the size and cost of government to 2008 levels.

Fox (and WSJ) seem to use some of the worst pollsters around. I don't understand why, but they do.

This is setting up to be a, “Our guy is pond scum, but look at how bad their guy is.” election.

We now have Reuters, Pew and Fox polls all bombarding us with happy news for the incumbent. I suppose the message is that the NYTimes poll is the outlier, and Obama’s next four years are guaranteed. I pray to God it is not so.

Based on what political reality the stupid Fox news poll is choosing such a sample. I am glad that I have stopped listening to TV news since November 2008 including Fox news.

You and I know that but for whatever reasons the “powers that be” are hell bent for leather that our first marxist president remains in office. People keep talking about how this election is the most important election in the history of the country. Maybe I’m crazy but to me it is already too late. The marxist america hater has been in office for three years already. Irreparable damage has already been done. As if anyone could or would change what this tool has already done. Republicans are democrats and democrats are republicans. Joke is on the rest of us who are dumb enough to work hard and pay the bills...

Polls are all over the place this week. They go from neck and neck to Hussein landslide.

Too early. Don’t trust a one.
