Democrats hate the United States and want to see to it that we get what is coming to us.

Can someone please explain why gas prices only rose to $4.18 average in 2008 with oil going for $147 at that time, yet now gas is getting to the same range with oil @ $105 right now?

Because increasing supply couldn’t possibly make the price go down.

1) Speculators are driving the price up because of concerns for future supply.

2) Drilling effects future supply.

Now the magic happens. We can't drill because it won't help the present supply and we have to punish the speculators because they are gouging.

We really do live in bizarro world.

I'm here in Upstate New York..We're going for "non-indian" gambling casinos, even changing the state constitution, instead of fracking.

Our NYS reps/governor are so stupid, it's pathetic. I believe our state government leaders are totally immoral, unethical and anything that occurs is a "payoff".

O'm betting that the "non-indian" casinos will be run by the same "gentleman" that has been working with the indians. Funny how that works.

Short term price and supply conditions are not always reflected in the price. Long term conditions generally are.

“While it is true that the Obama administration has ruled out drilling on vast areas of the federal estate, the number of oil and gas rigs operating in the U.S. has nonetheless increased markedly in recent years.”

Was this article written by Obama? Lies and darn lies.

“increased markedly in recent years.” On PRIVATE land. On gubmint land, which is most of the available land, it is WAY DOWN. This is just smoke and mirrors.

All of Newt's ideas would drop the price immediately! Just the news of these policies would cause prices to drop, before one drop more of oil is pumped.

Not to mention that we could be 100% off oil from bad actor countries. We could get all of our energy from North America FOREVER! Obama says 2% of world supply. NONSENSE! With new procedures and discoveries we have more proven reserves than anyone! Our oil is “sweet” as compared to mid east SLUDGE.

Peak oil is a myth. New oil is being created by the earth's magma every day. We will NEVER run out of oil. Due to technology and scientific advances, our need for fossil fuels will diminish over time. E-Cat for one.

Let's STOP giving billions of dollars to Muslims who want to destroy us and crazy dictators who are totally unpredictable. A STABLE domestic supply of energy will create jobs and economic prosperity never before seen.

Not to mention COAL and NUCLEAR (or nucular for some of you). No dish towels or fan belts required to produce energy from these two sources, of which we can have unlimited supplies.

Enough with the wind mills, ethanol, and solar. They don't work at scale, don't work 24/7, they have HUGE footprints, not cost effective, and totally unnecessary.

Link to Michael Lynch Bio: http://www.energyseer.com/MikeLynch.html

He appears to be a major player in various international and North American energy policy advisory groups.

This was interesting from his bio:

“Advised the Secretary-General of OPEC on long-term oil prices”

Where would Saudi Arabia be today? - or for hat matter - any of those Arab nations without the development of oil production by European and British nations in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s???

Right! However, I think America developed the oil the Saudis now have. The Saudis took the oil we developed. Eisenhower compensated the Americans for their loss, but he never made the Saudis pay for their theft.

“Despicable” is paying $4.30 for regular.

Which I did this week.

“Despicable” is lobbying Senate democrats to defeat the Keystone pipeline.

“Despicable” is Chu seeking to deliberately raise prices.

“Despicable” starts with “D”.

The Obamanator has, (without legal authority), closed the Gulf of Mexico for a year, stopped the XL oil sands pipeline construction after 3 1/2 years of study, used his Bloody Pulpit to vilify Naturial Gas and Oil Frac’ing, vilified Oil, Coal producers, and increased all Federal regulations by 20 %.

This is The Obamanator’s Energy Policy in actual action against what actually works.

For his efforts The Obamanator has generated a baseline approval rating of 38 %: “ - - - 38 percent approve of his energy policies - - - .”

Since The Obamanator has had a negative effect on what actually works, let us ponder what the 38 % approve of that doesn’t work: illegally bypassing Congress to spend money on crony companies such as Solyendra, and coming out in favor of , you guessed it, ALGAE!

Let’s face it, who among us does not love algae? Woe to the 62 % who do not support hugging an algae today!!!!!!

BTW, do you think that the OWS are “Algae-Huggers” too?

BTW, BTW, Newt could lower the price of gasoline and diesel 40 cents a gallon, by just signing a year-long fuel tax holiday bill. They did it for the payroll tax, and they can do it for fuel tax too.

Obama doubled the gasoline price in just 2 years from April 2009 to April 2011.

So a smart guy like Newt should be able to cut the current price by at least 1/3.

The day Obama leaves the White House gas prices will begin the plunge because speculators know the supply will be increasing instead of being strangled by Obama.

Maybe someone else remembers the specifics, but didn’t Bush bring down the price of gas after 9/11 just by suspending all the regulations on the “boutique” array of regional blends?

Yes and no. Increasing the supply of oil won’t as long as large speculators can manipulate the market. However a currently available alternative fuel (natural gas) that can be used in a large percentage of existing and future vehicles can effectively decouple Americans from high gasoline prices.

If that happens oil inventories will go through the roof as some countries are forced to pump more and more oil to maintain their income in the face of steadily dropping oil prices as the American demand for imported oil to be used for gasoline production drops to near zero.

Per my Post #29; I should have included the following from the first paragraph of the article”

“Michael Lynch, president of the oil consultancy Strategic Energy and Economic Research.”

Lynch is quoted throughout the article.

To quote the article: Again, it's simple: demand and supply.

Yep. So let's increase supply.

Increasing the supply of oil won’t as long as large speculators can manipulate the market.

So explain the difference between investing and "speculating."

I “speculated” just yesterday.
On the way home, I saw a station had just increased its price by 16 cents,

so I found a station that hadn’t changed yet and filled up.

If we switch to using nuclear power and coal to power our generators

And how would that help the price of gasoline?

Most of that 1% generated by Petroleum is refinery leftovers. It is stuff like Petroleum Coke or Residual oil that cannot be made into gasoline or diesel.
