Obama slams Republicans as new energy "naysayers"

US President Barack Obama Thursday mocked Republican foes who snub his alternative energy plans, comparing them to those who questioned the revolutionary rise of television and automobiles.

In his most sarcastic and cutting campaign mode, Obama slammed his rivals as "naysayers" who were stuck in the past, doubling down on his energy policy despite claims from Republican candidates that it is a miserable failure.

Obama strongly defended his plans to make America a leader in new energy sources like biofuels, and wind power and solar power, and rebuked Republicans for opposing his plans to cut subsidies to profit cranking oil producers.

"America uses more than 20 percent of the world's oil. If we drilled every square inch of this country ... we would still have only two percent of the world's known oil reserves."

He is sweating bullets. The energy issue may be the one that kills his chance of reelection. As I've said before I cannot wait for Newt and Sarah to respond to 0’s inane statements (Mittens and Santorum are welcome to in as well, but....)

If alternative energy is the ‘answer’, the market will welcome it. GOVERNMENT was not responsible for automobiles or television.

sub·si·dy
1. a direct pecuniary aid furnished by a government to a private industrial undertaking, a charity organization, or the like.
2. a sum paid, often in accordance with a treaty, by one government to another to secure some service in return.
3. a grant or contribution of money.
4. money formerly granted by the English Parliament to the crown for special needs.

I wish somebody would ask this guy to itemize the "subsidies" given to "big oil."

I have no issue with alternate energy as long as:

1) The government does not subsidize it

2) The government does not restrict coal, oil, gas or nuclear

I think he is being bribed. It’s just plain stupid not to go get our own American oil. It just makes zero sense. Someone with the goods on him is bribing him to block it. What else could it be. He’s really starting to look like the classroom dunce. He childishly mocks anyone that has common sense on this issue. I too, can’t wait to hear Newt respond like a grownup to this immature punk that is our President.

"If we drilled every square inch of this country ... we would still have only two percent of the world's known oil reserves."

If he is so good at predicting reserves before they are found by the drill bit, maybe he should go to work for Exxon Mobil as a reservoir engineer. Technology is what is driving the current surge in oil production in America. Who knows what the next innovation will be. Most oil fields have approximately 70% of the reserves left in the ground from a loss in pressure.
