As long as RS is a threat to get the nomination, and therefore take the country down to a humiliating defeat that will usher in four more years of unchecked liberalism, I will be hard pressed to decide politeness is the most important ingredient.

You have every right to refuse to be polite, and are entitled to your opinion, but not to your own facts. Recent polls of likely voters has confirmed that, far from taking our “country down to a humiliating defeat that will usher in four more years of unchecked liberalism,” if Rick Santorum is the GOP presidential nominee it will give us our best chance of defeating Obama this November. It is nearly impossible for the GOP presidential nominee to fail to carry each of FL, OH, VA and NC and get to 270 electoral votes, and Rick Santorum leads Obama by 4%, while Obama leads Romney by 4%, in an aggregate poll of these four states.

BTW, if Rasmussen polled Newt vs. Obama in those four states, it is behind Ramussen’s pay wall, so I can’t see it, but I get the feeling that had Rasmussen found that Newt was leading Obama in those four key states it would have been posted on FR already.

So if you don’t like Santorum for X or Y reason, that’s fine and dandy, but your claim that a Santorum nomination would send the GOP to a “humiliating defeat” is false, and not helpful in our mutual quest to stop Romney from winning the nomination.
