Gingrich campaigning as candidate with vision

Gingrich is still out there fighting for the Republican presidential nomination, invoking the Bible and Abraham Lincoln as he pushes the idea that America badly needs "a visionary conservative."

"I've stayed in the race because I think Proverbs is right," he told an appreciative audience at Judson University. "It warns that without vision, people will perish."

Gingrich is given little chance of winning the Republican nomination, but he vows to stay in the race.

He said his campaign is having a "halftime resetting of the game plan," and he plans to talk more about "big ideas" involving space, brain science, energy and other topics. He promised "a much clearer definition of a visionary conservative."

But his path to victory is daunting. ...

And yet the former speaker of the House of Representatives insists he's staying in, and he still draws good crowds.

-snip-

"Almost everyone on the right gives him great credit for the 1994 landslide that brought the GOP back from the wilderness," he said, referring to the Gingrich-led effort that gave Republicans the House majority for the first time in 40 years.

-snip-

Whispers are growing louder among conservatives that his presence in the race is making it impossible for Rick Santorum to bring conservatives together to mount a strong challenge to Mitt Romney.

Too bad, Gingrich says.

He presses on, saying he's the only one talking big ideas. If no one has a clear majority of delegates when Republicans convene in August in Tampa, Fla., to pick a nominee, he figures he has a shot.

Newt is gonna do everything he can to deny Romney delegates while keeping the discussion focused on a conservative vision that opposes Obama`s vision.

"Whispers are growing louder among conservatives that his presence in the race is making it impossible for Rick Santorum to bring conservatives together to mount a strong challenge to Mitt Romney."

Every vote that Rick Santorum takes away from Romney is a vote for conservatives. The same goes for Gingrich. Between the two, Newt and Rick should pull away enough votes to deny Romney the necessary 1144 delegate votes to win the nomination. If Newt and Rick between them got the 1144 delegate votes, the least vote getter would turn his delegates to the other and take the VP ticket.

It's not VISION we need just now, but GUTS to tackle our debt and to shine the light on who Obama really is and what he has done to us.

I fail to see that visionary talk of space and curing Alzheimers is called for when we teeter on the precipice of economic collapse.

Please don’t misinterpret my response. I am not attacking Gingrich’s past, only how he handles his message on the campaign stump. I want him to be successful, despite the couch photo with Her Heinous. I want him to continue to deny Romney delegates. But to do so he must be an effective communicator of the RIGHT message, and it isn’t space & technology.

Gingrich campaigning as candidate with vision

Santorum campaigning as candidate who gets votes. That is what is needed in a Primary. Many people have a vision and cannot get people to vote for them. Santorum has won in every part of the country and people love him. He is our chance to get rid of Obama with the mid-west. Newt is going to be a great Chief of Staff for Santorum. I DEFINITELY want Newt in Santorum’s administration.

Any updates if Adelson has cut off Newt?

America needs Newt to stop this socialist takeover of America!

I pray Newt stays in the race. I believe he holds Romney back. I hope he continues to stay encouraged and stands for what he believes — what he KNOWS to be right for this godforsaken bumbling country.

Interesting read. I admire Newt’s ability to strategize and not give up. This is what our country needs.

If only Newt would drop out of the race, then Santorum could sew up his position as Romney’s VP and we wouldn’t have to keep discussing all these divisive “issues”.

Golly, there’s the couch picture again. Of course, Newt’s already admitted that it was a mistake since it misrepresented his intentions and is so easily twisted to be more than it was by those against him...

Of course just SAYING he was wrong wouldn’t be enough so he did take it to congress about a year later and shredded Gore and his factually anemic friends. Anyone TRULY interested in Newts views on global warming issues is welcome to watch:

Has any other candidate apologized and/or attempted to correct any of his errors?
