...[Tom Hanks has] plunge[d] into a property deal that has made him the owner of the most expensive house in Los Angeles.

...Hanks along with his actress wife Rita Wilson (last seen as Meryl Streep’s buddy in ‘It’s Complicated’) have together bought a house in the Pacific Palisades for about $26 million.

The sprawling home is spread across 14,500 square foot and was built in 1996. Apparently, Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall formerly owned it. The building consists of 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. Two levels of living space and three levels of support space go very well with gorgeous Pacific Palisades backdrop which is located quite close to Malibu and Santa Monica.

Hey Tom, why dont you, Mike Moore, Steve Spielberg and Harvey Weinstein team up for an obamized remake of “Triumph of the Will”?

You guys could put Leni Riefenstahl back in the public eye.

I bet he’s going to remodel it and make it “green”, add solar panels to run his 27 flat screens, heated pool and light his tennis courts and 25 car garage

and throw in an organic garden with seeds from Moochelle’s WH garden

Kind of like “Habitat for Humanity for the 1%”

With all due respect he is simply good at playing pretend and calmly earnest and some comedy...non threatening ..even in Perdition..which was nicely filmed

but he is no Jimmy Stewart.

Stewart was a conservative and voluntarily flew B-24s far beyond the 20 missions required (at his request and also asked they stop counting them since he did not want to be a “hero”)

He achieved the rank of colonel during the war and general after the war from starting out as a private....at first they tried to keep him from combat given his status but he insisted and after 2 years got combat duty for 2 years...and they had rejected him for service at first as too skinny but he kept at it and got it

all in his mid 30s which was a mite old to enlist as a private

overall 8th Air Force suffered 15% casualties...highest of any large ...Stewart's Groups suffered around 25% losses...and the reality is that early in the war the 8th got walloped at rates that were unsustainable...longer range fighters escorts and night bombing brought that down as time went on ...and a diminished Luftwaffe

it is glaringly obvious that Tom hanks is a mere uninformed emotive buffoon

He is no Jimmy Stewart...Stewart was a Right Stuff sort who actually was the character of the heroes he played.

can we imagine any Hollywood jackass today being such a real man...just think about it...and Stewart was hardly the only one

I can see Hanks now, sitting on his front porch, 12 gauge shotgun in his lap saying “I’m going to shoot the next postman that shows up with another one of those damn royalty checks”.

Not gunna happen!!!!

I didn’t mean he was a Jimmy Stewart in the personal sense, merely in the characters he has played and the film sense. I am sorry I wasn’t more clear on that point.

He played a strong and wise teacher turned soldier in “Saving Private Ryan”, a good law abiding decent guard in “The Green Mile”, and a real life hero, Jim Lovell, in “Apollo 13”.

He reminds me of Tim Robbins, whose politics are atrocious but when they act, their art is often used by God to inspire and lift out spirits.
