I was in the front row for the ‘73 Dark Side Tour. I was friends with some progressive rock DeeJays who “arranged” for me to win the tickets and go with them. It was surreal. I had seen Floyd in ‘71 at a college field house and knew their light show was amazing but in 71 it was all strobes, color wheels and opaque projectors with someone mixing ocooking oil, water and food coloring. By ‘73 they were playing colleseums and had the first laser show I’d ever seen with projection screens and a massive mirror ball that made the room spin. The dry ice machines and smoke nozzels started a half-hour before the music and the fog rolled off the stage into the crowd. I remember sitting in a sea of heads - it was wild.
