A 20-year-old United Nations plan aimed at fostering sustainable development around the world is “destructive and insidious,” in the words of a resolution that won approval in the Republican-controlled Tennessee House of Representatives on Thursday (March 15).
Tennessee Republicans say the plan, known as “Agenda 21,” amounts to “extreme environmentalism, social engineering and global political control.” With the help of six Democrats, they won approval for the nonbinding state resolution in a 72-to-23 floor vote.
Agenda 21 was adopted by 178 governments at a U.N. conference in Brazil in June 1992. The plan calls on local, state and national governments to pursue development in environmentally and socially responsible ways, including by fighting pollution, seeking to reduce poverty and empowering local people in decision-making.
But critics see the agenda as invasive and infringing on individual liberties. The U.N. and its allies “want to protect Mother Earth,” says Republican Representative Kevin Brooks, the sponsor of the Tennessee resolution, according to the Chattanooga Times Free Press. “We’re all about conservation. We’re all about protecting the environment. (But) we’re not about losing our liberty.”
Agenda 21 is a “a step-by-step methodical process that denies United States citizens their property rights,” another Republican representative, Rick Womick, said during Thursday's floor debate, according to the Times Free Press.
Some Democrats in the Tennessee House ridiculed the Republican resolution as paranoid.

It’s about time local and state governments PUBLICIZE AND INFORM AMERICANS of the U.N’s ‘Agenda 21’ now be implemented all across America. This is not a tin-foil hat fantasy.. Much of it is being implemented ‘bottom up’ or at the local level rather than ‘top down’. The White House Rural Council is the foundation for ‘bottom up’ implementation. Another ‘front’ for Agenda 21. It’s incumbent upon we FReepers to WAKE OUR NEIGHBORS UP to this slippery slope!
I discussed this with his secretary, and as we were speaking she googled Agenda 21, and my gosh was she shocked.
He is working on a bill of importance to me, to prevent city governments from taking more control of rental and investment properties, in an ordinance of dubious reasons for passing, aka as Fees/taxes.
Agenda 21 seems to making it's headway amidst Local City Councils. Chip here, chip there and pretty soon the Tree of Freedom is chopped down and no one knew what was happening, because one ordinance did not pertain to me, so I was not affected, so I did not help those it did, and vice versa.
I hope they read this and do the same in my state. He's a Republican.

This is a criminal collaberation between the UN some of our ELECTED officials and globalists to effectivley reduce the population and corral it into manageble sectors for better control. GHW Bush signed off on Agenda 21, not Clinton.
Wish I could say that surprised me. The more I read about Bush/Quayle and all of the stupid stuff that they passed, the more i realize it’s way past time for a third party of intelligent Conservatives.
