I imagine you could a 40SW its just a short 10MM.
Its a revolver so I dont know why cartridge length would matter

Yes. You can and I do, just for economical handling purposes. Otherwise waiting for action, mine travels bearing the intended load.
Most lovely out-of-the-box newbie I ever bought, no adjustments needed and handsome to boot. (Except I changed the square butt Hogue grip for rounded in order to better fit my hands. Admittedly, the square did look better.)
