SHREVEPORT, La. - Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich talks to the press tonight in Shreveport about his plan for reducing energy prices.

The candidate for the GOP nomination will respond to President Obama's criticism of his $2.50 gas and energy plan. Gingrich's campaign says he will also outline his American energy plan to lower gas prices, create jobs and make the United States energy independent.

Gringrich has scheduled a campaign stop Tuesday at Strawn's Eat Shop Too at 1643 East 70th Street. The event begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends an hour later.

"Axelrod also criticized the notion that we can simply drill our way out of this" by attacking Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich's claim that his plan would reduce gas prices to $2.50 cents per gallon. "That's not oil talk, but snake oil talk," Axelrod said.

I know you didn’t write the headline...

But really, news media?

It’s O defending, not Newt.

But even more so, a President who TRULY LOVES America the way our Constitution intended it to be, rather than ‘divide and conquer’ to CHANGE it.

Newt's had a lot of nice things to say about Ryan. (contrary to what's reported).

Does Ryan Now Agree with Gingrich? [And now, here's the rest of the story] "There is a perception lingering about NewtGingrich that he was a critic of Paul Ryan's budget plan and therefore a critic of conservative fiscal policy in the House of Representatives. Is that conclusion true? Or is it an oversimplification? Like many misconceptions floating around during a heated political season, it is not true. Let's examine the facts.

On April 5, 2011, Representative Paul Ryan, the HouseBudgetCommittee chairman, introduced the Republican budget for 2012. Included in that budget was a premium support model for Medicare. This budget was based on a similar plan previously laid out by Ryan called TheRoadmapforAmerica'sFuture. That document had been a Republican Party policy call to change the budget and put it on sound fiscal grounds compared to the Democrats' unwillingness to budget at all and tax and spend into infinity. The Harry Reid-run Senate has not passed a budget for over three years, even though they are required to by law.

Gingrich praised the Ryan plan in an article in Human Events on April 13. He called it the most serious attempt by an elected official to rethink our public finances and the modern welfare state in a generation. That is quite a compliment from a former speaker of the House to a current committee chairman. Using a golfing metaphor, Gingrich celebrated the plan, calling it a Ryan "eagle." Is that comparison a negative critique, or is it commendation? One week later, on April 20, Gingrich in the same space heaped more praise on the plan. He compared Paul Ryan to Paul Revere, one of our nation's great heroes, and compared the Ryan Medicare plan with his own previous welfare reform. Why would he disparage something he would compare to one of his greatest achievements? Gingrich later said he would have voted for the plan if he had had the opportunity......"

My misspell! Too long posting today.

Newt will respond to Obama’s comments dismissing Newt’s call for energy independence and lower gas prices (Obama’s sudden interest in oil prices going UP are tied to his poll numbers going DOWN).....all Obama’s policy decisions are made to help him have 4 more years to destroy the economy and weaken our national security.

Someone else mentioned the misspelling of Gingrich, twasn’t moi.

I’m the one attacking the headline for being ridiculously backwards...it’s Newt advancing against O, O defending in response, but the media headline says it the other way around.

Thanks for sharing. I hope to find a live stream to watch.

Everyone's going in circles while Newt says the only important news.

Newt is fighting against the media.

Since they do not want him near the presidency.

CW, this is the presser he should have held in ALA, after Obama adm called Newt a liar. He could have called the adm liars— and perhaps gained some momentum in the states in the final days— imho.

Any way, glad he’s back on the trail— there was some derisive talk because he had so few campaign stops scheduled- maybe, this talk precipitated the idea of the presser. Also, from what I read he now has 4 stops tomorrow- where originally had 1. Long odds, but Rick has had a few terrible days and may do badly in Ill-— and Newt’s message is perfect for La.

In any event, hopefully the press conference is indicative of an undisclosed, underlying positive (money, poll, etc)— Fingers crossed.

Here’s his latest ad:

Gingrich is the only one who has ideas and values freedom. The problem is that the GOP primary voting base, which is probably composed mostly of older people, has no ideas and doesn’t want them. They want either the toothy grin of Mr. Mormon, who would be exactly the same as Obama in terms of imposing big government, or the slope-shouldered prissiness of Mr. Preacher Man, who thinks being president is all about using big government to impose a different set of personal views, but has no economic or international ideas or understanding - nor does he even care to develop them.

Neither the press nor the GOP wants to give Gingrich a forum because they’re terrified that they might actually have to make some changes...something they have successfully fought against doing since the time of Gingrich as Speaker. That’s why they joined the Dems in dumping him.
