Illegal immigrants would be barred from attending Georgia's public colleges under legislation that passed a key House committee Monday.The Republican-led House Judiciary Non-Civil Committee passed Senate Bill 458 after about two hours of discussion. The measure passed the GOP-controlled Senate on March 5.
Sen. Barry Loudermilk, a Republican from Cassville and the lead sponsor of the bill, spoke in favor of his bill.
“One of the arguments you may hear today,” Loudermilk told the committee, “is what is wrong about allowing someone who may be here illegally to take one of the seats in one of our colleges or universities, if they just want to better themselves and they want to become a productive member of our society. Well, that is a good argument to make. However, it is a federal crime to hire someone who is illegally in this country.”
Loudermilk paused several times to consult anti-illegal immigration activist D.A. King, who sat by the senator’s side during the hearing. King is president of the Georgia-based Dustin Inman Society, which advocates enforcement of U.S. immigration and employment laws.
Most of the people who spoke during a hearing on the bill Monday opposed the legislation, including Suttiwan Cox, the founder and principal of the Path Academy charter school in Brookhaven, where most of the students are Hispanic.
“It is better to have educated unemployed people than non-educated unemployed people,” she said. “Why don’t you get them to work and ask them to pay back student loans?”

That’s always the scare tactic that is used. The solution isn’t easy or just one thing, but it starts by cutting off the incentives, then not allowing pre-K illegal children to go to school in the first place.
My sister teaches school in New Mexico. The middle school she taught at was a stone throw from the border. You could see Mexico from the window. There were kids who walked across the border everyday to attend school, and while there go free breakfast and lunch too. It needs to stop.
A man I work with said that in El Paso, there are school busses that pick illegal immigrant kids up and bus them to school where they partake in free edcation and of course, free breakfast, lunch and even knapsacks with free food to take home.
When he complained at a school board meeting, he was called a racist.
As far as I am concerned, you breech them, you teach them.
IIRC it is by judicial fiat alone that illegals nationwide must be enrolled in K-12 in the first place.
Maybe if the welcome mat was pulled, illegals would self deport.

No reason many cannot return to Mexico and do the same. Having a high school education would be a plus there
Sure puts a damper on plans to grant amnesty for attending college.
Of course he was called racist. It’s the pot calling the kettle black. The Progressives/Democrats/Lefties have no idea how wrong they are. They aren’t about free speech, nor discussion. The Marxist plan is to ingrain themselves into the five sectors. If I remember the sectors correctly, they are: 1)education, 2)entertainment, 3) government, 4)financial, 5) transportation.
Darn shame they can’t see that charity starts at home.
