Michelle Obama fired up the stars in Tribeca Monday night for her hubby’s reelection bid.
An A-list crowd — Beyoncé and her mother Tina Knowles, “The View” host Whoopi Goldberg, Star Jones, actors Ben Stiller, Angela Bassett and Alfre Woodard, and movie mogul Harvey Weinstein and his fashion designer wife — turned out for the Obama cash bash. The fund-raiser was hosted by Robert De Niro and his wife, Grace Hightower, at Locanda Verde, the restaurant in his Greenwich Hotel in Tribeca.
It seemed like the only big name missing was Jay-Z, who was performing at the Darby on W. 14th Street.
Speaking to the starry crowd of about 85 people, De Niro opened the night by deadpanning: “Callista Gingrich. Karen Santorum. Ann Romney. Now do you really think our country is ready for a white first lady?”
The crowd roared and one person yelled, “No!”

It probably is good for his career. It’s really hard for an avowed conservative to get a nod in Hollywood. They have to be really entrenched and famous like Bruce Willis to dare to do it.
By the way, why hasn’t Bruce Willis ever been up for an Oscar. He’s done a lot of B movies and made them B plus, and he was excellent in The Sixth Sense.

Or how about one who is not bored with the folding of the US Flag?
Or how about one who doesn’t fly off in separate taxpayer aircraft for vacations because they cannot wait for husband.

IMO De Niro’s performance in Godfather II was one of the greatest screen performances of all time.
He has made a lot of junk.
I have seen him on many interview shows and he seems flat affect and not much to contribute. Another reason why I don’t understand why these people think we’re waiting breathlessly for them to espouse their opinions about anything.

Same mannerisms, vocal inflections and facial expressions as my pedestrian factory worker Uncle Mike on Long Island, who is also a dead ringer for DeNiro.
Just Deniro playing himself, an east coast Italian.

I disagree. So De Niro copied your uncle. Wasn’t that acting?
He actually had to show Brando at an earlier age and some of his moves, expression and voice were meant to remind us of that.
De Niro looks like my uncle Frank or visa verse. Family from Sicily, does that make me an expert? LOL!
The wedding in GF I looked like my family reunion. I miss the old folks.
