Sorry, but the children should be off limits for the reasons cited, ...

Agreed. In this case however, the information published was in the public domain (and likely VERY well known in Mexico!) AND was in no way derogatory. This, there is no legitimate "Security" interest and her privacy has not been invaded.

The Great Scrub serves only one purpose - to expunge an embarrassing situation where the WH must explain why it is AGAIN necessary to have the taxpayer pay for such extravagances.

There is another reason this is an embarrassment to the Administration—something I pointed out in the FR post that was pulled. This shows extremely poor judgement on the part of both of the Obamas. I am SURE the director of the US Secret Service implored the President not to push ahead with this trip because of the security risks. The First Daughter is a tempting target for the cartels. I was shocked to read the number of SS agents as that is usually classified. Mexico is incredibly violent and the police and military are notoriously corrupt. No matter how much Malia complained, the Obamas should’ve put their foot down. I won’t be surprised if a book comes out in a few years confirming my suspicion that Obama was overriding the advice of the men and women tasked with protecting the lives of him and his family.

Snippets from a link I posted yesterday, which has not been scrubbed (redacting specifics so as not to freak any freepers out) The information is out there:

“......spending her spring break in the historic Mexican city of ______ in the company of 12 friends, a state police official said....”

“..The young tourists, including 13-year-old Malia Ann Obama, are staying at a _______ in this city famous ...”

“..The group, which arrived in _____ Saturday, has already visited the architectural zone of _____ and the tree _____ believed to have one thousand years...”

“...The sightseeing plan also includes visits to ___known for its archeological research sites and _____ famous artisan quarters...”

That's alot of info for a trip meant to be kept off the radar. My hunch is we (US) were the only ones meant to be kept in the dark. I wonder if her trip is being covered in Mexico.

12 friends? I thought they were classmates.

Thinking out loud. SPECULATION ONLY: If I added correctly, Malia is in the 8th grade, meaning she will be in the Upper School next year. Is this a school sponsored event or is it something 12 families did for their kids to mark leaving middle school behind? Did those 12 kids fly on our dime? Parents? Chaperons? BTW, did the Bush daughters have more than 1 SS Agent when they traveled? In no way would I fault them, they are doing their job, but 25 agents? Is that the norm? Wonder who made that decision.
