Why is President Obama so rattled by Newt Gingrich?

There are good reasons for Mr. Obama’s discomfort. First is the almost immediate hit to the president’s popularity when gasoline prices go up. Rightly or wrongly, Americans hold him accountable. In fact, the president is vulnerable on this topic.

He has consistently portrayed fossil fuels such as oil, coal and natural gas as energy products of the past while expressing an almost unimaginably naïve optimism about the potential of alternatives. His attachment to high-cost “green” energy has played well with environmentalists but for most of the country – the roughly 50% not concerned about global warming -- it is increasingly viewed as an expensive boondoggle.

President Obama’s enthusiasm for green tech is especially inappropriate in the midst of a recession. A new study has shown that mandates to use alternative energy now in place in 29 states – and proposed on a national scale by Mr. Obama – have caused electricity rates to soar. On average, those states are paying 32% more for electricity than their neighbors. This is a horrifying tax that is even now filtering through to businesses and households in states like California, which has lately adopted the most stringent mandates in the country. Nothing could retard our recovery faster than jacking up power rates across the country, but that is exactly what this president wants to do.

Obama further compounded his difficulties by blocking the Keystone XL pipeline. To be sure, the politically motivated decision will have no near-term impact on gasoline prices, but it surely furthers the narrative that the president has turned his back on oil and gas. And to what end?

Do we think that by refusing to allow transport of Alberta tar sands through our country those resources will not be produced? Nonsense. If we don’t buy this crude, the Chinese will.

Has any president ever been boiled in oil prices?

“Why is President Obama so rattled by Newt Gingrich?”

Because Newt is making mincemeat out of him, and exposes Barack Algae as an idiot and liar.

The President just hates being challenged; being questioned. He must suffer from “only child” or “king baby” syndrome.

I’ve accepted that Newt won’t win the nomination. I hope that Newt becomes a “team player” and keeps the heat on Obama as only Newt can do.

Obama has done everything he can to block cheap energy. He has done this on purpose, and he has said that this is what he's doing.

I don't want to be too glib with a Hitler reference, but when Hitler was in prison in the mid 1920's, he wrote Mein Kampf. The book basically said that he wanted to take over the world and kill all the Jews. It was a huge seller. Everyone in Germany bought a copy. When Hitler came to power, do you know what he tried to do? He tried to take over the world and kill all the Jews. People were SHOCKED!

So, yeah, Obama's energy policy is well known. I have no idea why people don't see that this is deliberate.

There's a great snippet in the article about how Obama, who fancies himself an idea man, is out of touch with all the great new ideas in oil and gas.

Obama somehow thinks he can power the world with unicorn farts! And it just won't work.;-)

If Newt and Obama were in a presidential debate, Obama would look like a stuttering fool.

Obama wants to stop the rising of the oceans, and allow the planet to heal. These sorts of statements are music to the ears of the global warming crowd.

I wish he would be open and honest about energy. He wants us to cut back on coal and oil due to this global warming thing. The EPA has issued regulations which are resulting in shutting down some coal fired power plants.

And as we see, this president rejected the Keystone Pipeline, which would seem to have been a no brainer decision to push forward with it.

Why doesn’t Obama give a speech which will make the liberals swoon? Openly admit that he wants us off of fossil fuels, and all policies he adopts are towards that end.

Or, are liberals afraid to tell us these things out loud?

They’re still clinging to the “good intentions” fallacy with regard to the “green energy” advocates.

Our side is too chicken to state the truth about his intentions,
and the sheeperals have their sense of “I’m a good person” wrapped up in their environmentalism (”I care about the erf”).

I was talking to a good friend of mine that is a former liberal turned conservative, and he doesn’t accept the malintent postulate. He thinks the leftists, even those at the top, truly believe in their utopia.

Because Newt’s an America with no foreign born parents.

And because Newt can hand 0bama his arse in a debate....with one hand tied behind Newt’s back.

Finally, because Newt will change DC and destroy the 0bama cabal’s agenda in place.
