Face it, who would raise cattle just for fun as pets?

Me. I always wanted a cow pet. They are so big and sad looking, yet it only seems to require that tiny wire fence to keep them in the pasture.

I'm still going to eat them though, including my own cow pet - if I had one and was hungry enough.

I am the lover of all animals, great and small, particularly the tasty ones ... but, cows are very dumb. When they get spooked, which they do quite often, there is hardly a fence in the land that will hold them. I have goats that get out less often than any of my rancher friends that raise cows, and goats are known as the Hoodinis of the barnyard. They don't really return affection in any detectable way, with the exception of running plumb over you if you are delivering food. That tends to hurt. :)

I always, from the 5th grade when we read Charlotte's Web, wanted a pig for a pet, UNTIL I saw what they can do to the yard with the incessant rooting up the lawn. That pretty much cured me of that little dream.
