Survey: Rick Santorum Has Sizable Lead Over Mitt Romney Heading Into Saturday's La. Primary March 20, 2012

Jonathan Tilove

WASHINGTON -- Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum has a significant lead over former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in Louisiana heading into Saturday's primary, according to a survey conducted Monday by a Republican polling firm.

According to the survey of 2,018 likely Republican voters conducted by Magellan Strategies BR, and not paid for by any campaign or political organization, Santorum was leading Romney by 13 points -- 37 percent to 24 percent, with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, right behind Romney with 24 percent.

(snip)

According to the survey, if Gingrich were not in the race, 61 percent of his support would go to Santorum, and only 22 percent to Romney. In a one-on-one contest, Santorum would defeat Romney by 21 points -- 55 to 34 percent with 11 percent undecided.

You make a good analysis. I would have thought if a candidate gets over 50%, he takes all delegates. No?

Face it, the low Illinois turnout is now showing a “none of the above” attitude of GOP voters. In a time that the worse White House resident in US history should be defeated in a record landslide, the establishment GOP has systematically undermined every conservative candidate while offering a lackluster Massachusetts liberal as their anointed one.

At this point, any shift from Santorum would be to Romney as the perceived winner. Those shifting would not go to someone who is polling even lower and is behind nationally. Otherwise, they would not shift at all.

What and/or who is “Magellan Strategies BR” the poll takers?

And yes, it is a three man race!

ROFL - Santorum should drop out so that the one running even further behind Romney can lose instead? If Santorum would drop out now, Romney would sew up the nomination in no time. If Santorum’s supporters went 60-40 to Newt as Gingrich’s poll shows they would in the reverse situation, Romney would be over 50%

“Here’s a little good news to cheer you up.”

It sure does, but I’m not so surprised about Romney winning a liberal state tonight. Rick supporters should NOT be dispirited at all.

This is the state that gave us Obama.

Talent???

You’re kidding right?

Rmoney outspent Santorum 7 to 1 in Illinois. He knew that he had to win or lose his “frontrunner status”.

What ?
A deep blue state home to the Daley machine is far to gone to vote for anyone but a Dem like Mittens.
He fire bombs his enemies Namely the GOP base with ugly AstroTurf and literally drives off the base from voting period .
This clown has killed off the GOP base and the general is going to be a disaster for the GOP elites in DC .
These clowns may actually lose the house thanks to the ugliest pres primary in everyone’s lifetime .
Mitten’s had the lowest approval rating of any Pres front runner in modern times.
The GOP is cooked.

Here’s what’s going on in the Romney-win state:

“Illinois abandons gun rights, empowers criminals

Plan on purchasing, owning, transporting and/or operating a firearm in your lifetime? Do not relocate to the state of Illinois. The state has one of the worst gun laws in the country and the Illinois Police and the Illinois Attorney General really need to stop pursuing innocent gun owners, sellers, and users, and pursue those who actually commit crimes that injure or harm others.

Stemming from a public safety initiative, Illinois implemented a law in 1968 that says a Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card must be issued by the Illinois State Police before a resident can possess or purchase firearms or ammunition. Whether this initiative has been successful in providing safety to the public is a story where the evidence in support of such an act leaves much to be desired.”

There are some Romney people who come to FR only to attack Rick, like they think we would vote for Romney. They apparently are so ashamed of their candidate they won’t admit supporting them. I did not name names so if you are a robofan feel free to attack me.

Yeah that worked really well in Florida and Iowa, Why don’t you just admit that our main opponent is Romney not Santorum (nor Gingrich).
