Thomas Sowell: Romney's Got the Money, But Newt's Got the Vision
Breitbart.com ^ | 3/21/2012 | Dr. Susan Berry

Mitt Romney has won the Illinois primary. But, the turnout of voters was dismally low. Given an incumbent Democratic president with an abysmal record, why aren't Republicans turning out in droves to vote in primary states for the man who many say is the "inevitable" nominee?

Conservative economist Thomas Sowell, author of Intellectuals and Society, recently challenged the notion that Mitt Romney is the “inevitable” Republican nominee, and, in doing so, the many pundits who have essentially told Newt Gingrich to drop out of the race “for the good of the Republican party.”

Dr. Sowell, a Harvard graduate and current senior fellow at the Hoover Institute, writes, “It is truer in this election than in most that ‘it takes a candidate to beat a candidate.’ And that candidate has to offer both himself and his vision. Massive ad campaigns against rivals is not a vision.”

It's so heartening to know that the brilliant Thomas Sowell is a Newt supporter!

Dr. Sowell says everything that I do believe in. He puts everything into perspective. I love him. Too bad, Rush would not let him come back and host his program for a day. Really miss those days of Dr. Sowell speaking to us. What a naional treasure. Go, Newt (prayers for you)

If Newt supporters would argue for their candidate in an intelligent manner like Dr. Sowell they might even help Newt instead of turning people off him.

If that’s their goal that is, to actually help Newt. I guess if Romney’s really their guy it’s better to beat up on Rick and turn people off Newt, two birds with one stone.

This election is not going to be good.

If Romney does what many of us expect, it will almost be worse than if Zer0 was re-elected.....ALMOST..

The only thing that I can say is that a Romney POTUS MUST be accompanied with a veto-proof Congress, so that if Romney goes completely off the conservative rails, the Congress can act on their own....

...well, I can wish can't I?

Many of us try to say why we do support Newt over Rick then we are attacked non stop by this know it all attitude from Rick Santorum supporters so please be fair. Check members posts to see who it is that attacks vs. tolerates speech and respects the differences of ideas in how some do want our government to be run. (I have a list of Santorum bashers that I do not reply to)

I’m a NEWT supporter and have no use for Mitt. Your accusations are getting old. Santorum is where he is thanks to Mitt’s lies about NEWT. Santorum never would have survived the attacks by Mitt,MSM, Fox and many so-called conservative talk show hosts that Newt has. If you think Santo will beat Obama you are day dreaming.Go NEWT.By the way it’s all in the LORD’S hands.

Thank you for that. I could still support Newt if that's how it goes. But I believe with all my heart that Romney is McCain all over again. Like his speech the other night that "Obama's not a bad man". I think that's almost exactly what McCain said.

Romney is the one who should drop out

One of my friends who lives in Louisiana, told me Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney are running negative ads on Newt. Rick is hammering Newt with dishonest ads. Makes me so mad. You are right about what you have shared.

Kenny, I agree with you. We are going to be in trouble with Mitt. I like Rick as a dad, I just know the media will abuse him as where I think Newt can argue with them with his visions as Dr. Sowell says. I am going with Newt until he decides to leave and praying a miracle comes. We need a fighter to help save our country. Once that's gone, I don't know what to do.

Kenny we have tried to get into a discussion on the good of both Newt and Santorum. And how can Mittens be stopped.

But the Bashers on both sides have a bone in their teeth and wont come up for air.

So they battle day after day with the same old stories and meanwhile mittens keeps getting closer to 1144.

Christie, Santorum always denies that he goes negative on NEWT. I remember when a question was asked in one of the early dabates who the candidates admired? Santorum answered Newt because he taught me how to be a conservative. We’ve come a long way baby LOL. Praying for NEWT.

Agree with everything you said. I haven't really attacked Newt but I'm personally going to make a real effort to only say good things about both Newt or Rick. I can really support either one, just can't stomach Romney.

May as well stay home if Romney gets the nomination and no third party candidate runs. Praying for Rick Santorum. Hoping for a third party candidate if that doesn't pan out.
