Obama vows to drill ‘everywhere we can’ (More BS)

“If you hear anybody on TV saying that somehow we are against drilling for oil, then you will know that they either don’t know what they are talking about or they are not telling you the truth,” Obama said, against the backdrop of oil production facilities outside Maljamar, N.M.

“We are drilling all over the place,” Obama added, reading from a speech on his podium on a windy afternoon. “That’s the reason we have been able to reduce our dependence on foreign oil every year since I took office.”

While Obama has repeated in recent days that there’s no “silver bullet” that can currently ease the price at the pumps, he vowed that his administration will make oil-and-gas development a continued priority as part of a wider strategy focused on traditional and alternative energy. “You have my word that we will keep drilling everywhere we can and we will do it while protecting the health and safety of the American people,” Obama said, speaking with no jacket or tie. “That’s a commitment that I make.”

The White House has struggled in recent days to win the debate on gas prices, with Obama appearing at college campuses and manufacturing facilities to tout his energy strategy.

Wednesday’s appearance in New Mexico reflected a pivot of sorts as the White House looked to change the optics on the issue.

Obama delivered a 10-minute speech at the oil field after an hour-and-a-half flight from Nevada — where he was touting solar energy — and another 30-minute helicopter ride.

Overall U.S. oil production has been steadily increasing, reversing declines that began in the mid-1980s, and federal Energy Information Administration (EIA) data show that it’s now at the highest level since 2003.

But federal data show that combined oil production from federal lands and waters — the areas regulated by Obama's Interior Department — dipped in fiscal year 2011 after several years of gains.

Obama’s GOP critics have pounced on the recent drop, and more broadly say Obama should open far more areas to development than White House plans call for, alleging policies including the decision to keep the Atlantic and Pacific Coasts off-limits are far too restrictive.

“You have my word that we will keep drilling everywhere we can and we will do it while protecting the health and safety of the American people,” Obama said,...

Therefore, we cannot drill everywhere.

We’re drilling everywhere......except for the millions of acres that are off limits.

Bammy might want to give Robert Kennedy Jr a call and ask him to call off the “Waterkeepers”. Those clowns are swarming all over my area trying to shut down oil and gas drilling.

I almost put my foot through the TV last night when I heard that Obama is NOW trying to move some Democrats in Congress to advocate for the Keystone Pipeline! His handlers must have come to the stark conclusion that their position on the matter is WRONG. Here we are at this time in history when Americans would like more jobs AND lower gas prices and he sat in the WH and pushed for rejection of the pipeline. NOW he wants to look like the energy hero? Don’t think so!!!

The reason we have been able to reduce our dependence on foreign oil every year since Obama took office is new drilling and completion technologies which have opened up the so-called 'shale' drilling. These advances include horizontal drilling and multi-stage frac techniques - whose implementation Obama's administration has vigorously opposed for ideological reasons. If regulations, penalties, and bureaucratic impediments are the way to support an industry, then Obama has supported drilling for oil.

Throw them a curve and bring out the Great lakes directional drilling ban. The left is all geared up for a fight over Keystone, ANWR, and offshore. Knock them off balance and fight them somewhere else and use the EPA recommendations for safe drilling against them.

Obama is a pretty good liar. I remember him pre election interviewed by Bill O’Reilly and Obama said “of course” we need a missile defense, and then Obama threw in “but I want a system that works”. Of course liberals don’t believe missile defense works, so Obama has hobbled our programs since.

It’s just like that with oil. Duh, “of course” there is lots of drilling going on. There just aren’t the thousands of additional wells there could be but that doesn’t matter to a con artist like Obama.

BTW regardless of oil price wouldn’t it be better to have hundreds of billions of oil dollars in our own economy instead of with the Saudis, Iranians, Mexicans, Canada, Brazil, Venezuela???

Guarantee you OPEC funnels money to the democrats through environmental groups.

This man is a breathtaking serial liar. If we had a real media, Obama would be toast.

All smoke and mirrors

I hope there is a nice place in —— FOR HIM.

They just did and Reid voted it down, even announced upon the bill’s arrival that it would be voted down.

Lets face it .... this administration is very effective at deflecting and laying down so called "plausible" arguments against any accusation thrown at it. Doesn't matter if it is true or not ..... all they have to do is create a perception that the media back them up with. Next step is to repeat it often enough that it WILL become the common understanding of the reason.

The president and his administration will do whatever it takes to grab any issues that poll negatively against him away from the GOP thus nullifying the GOP talking points.

In the mean time ... the GOP is relying solely upon conservative talk show hosts to vent the GOP side of the argument. Unfortunately .... they are talking and preaching mainly to the proverbial choir. And in the meantime .... the actual candidates that are seeking to dethrone president are talking about the important issue of the Etch-a-Sketch... At least that is all that the public is hearing.

I sure hope the GOP has a "Plan-B" in the event that gas prices go down and the perception of the economy and the unemployment numbers improve before the general election. Never underestimate the strength of your opponent.

Good point...this guy can lie all he wants because no one in the MSM and many on the net take up any discussion against his position.

It all started with the birth certificate. Once they swallowed that whole, nothing became questionable...not the selective service card, not the social security numbers, not the college grades who who paid for college, not who was responsible for stopping drilling on US leases.

If there were no internet or alternative media I believe by now we would all be wearing pajamas he deemed suitable for those ruled.
