Obama vows to drill ‘everywhere we can’ (More BS)
The Hill ^ | March 21, 2012 | Ben Geman and Amie Parnes

Posted on 03/22/2012 8:37:00 AM PDT by Hojczyk

“If you hear anybody on TV saying that somehow we are against drilling for oil, then you will know that they either don’t know what they are talking about or they are not telling you the truth,” Obama said, against the backdrop of oil production facilities outside Maljamar, N.M.

“We are drilling all over the place,” Obama added, reading from a speech on his podium on a windy afternoon. “That’s the reason we have been able to reduce our dependence on foreign oil every year since I took office.”

While Obama has repeated in recent days that there’s no “silver bullet” that can currently ease the price at the pumps, he vowed that his administration will make oil-and-gas development a continued priority as part of a wider strategy focused on traditional and alternative energy. “You have my word that we will keep drilling everywhere we can and we will do it while protecting the health and safety of the American people,” Obama said, speaking with no jacket or tie. “That’s a commitment that I make.”

The White House has struggled in recent days to win the debate on gas prices, with Obama appearing at college campuses and manufacturing facilities to tout his energy strategy.

Wednesday’s appearance in New Mexico reflected a pivot of sorts as the White House looked to change the optics on the issue.

Obama delivered a 10-minute speech at the oil field after an hour-and-a-half flight from Nevada — where he was touting solar energy — and another 30-minute helicopter ride.

Overall U.S. oil production has been steadily increasing, reversing declines that began in the mid-1980s, and federal Energy Information Administration (EIA) data show that it’s now at the highest level since 2003.

But federal data show that combined oil production from federal lands and waters — the areas regulated by Obama's Interior Department — dipped in fiscal year 2011 after several years of gains.

Obama’s GOP critics have pounced on the recent drop, and more broadly say Obama should open far more areas to development than White House plans call for, alleging policies including the decision to keep the Atlantic and Pacific Coasts off-limits are far too restrictive.

All of the North Dakota and all of the shale plays were started way before this joker got elected and he tries to take credit for it?

The Jackass-in-Chief is in oil & gas country (Cushing, Oklahoma) giving a lecture (in his southern preacher mode) telling us we cannot drill our way into energy independence.

He’s also giving his “approval” for construction of the southern leg of the Keystone pipeline that our governor and Governor Perry of Texas already planned, while doubling-down on blocking the northern leg (for more “studies”) to get the oil from Canada to the gulf.

He knows his poll numbers have taken a hit and just another INVITATION-ONLY campaign stop for the DUmocrat sheep who are gullible enough to buy into his bullcrap.

Hey, you are lucky! At least you have someone to talk to and yell with when Obama comes on the screen (ditto Reid and Pelosi and Debbie W-S). Pity us single, older folks who live alone. My little dog foes help me lower my BP when things get out of hand in DC (and in St. Paul,MN).

Tomorrow I plan to go to the rally against the HHS mandate and to support the First Amendment. Last night I helped deflect my rising BP by making three signs in preparation for this event at noon on Friday IN FRONT OF Al Franken’s office in St. CLoud!!!!

Here are my signs - for what it’s worth!

Yes, this coming from the guy who says we (the USA) have only 2% of the worlds reserves... so why should we be drilling everywhere? Maybe in your yard or my yard... we could get it up to 3%.

This dimwit doesn’t understand the difference between known reserves and total reserves... And our geologists have proven we have massive reserves of energy in various forms. So let’s do it all! What a hypocrit we have as POTUS.

Hiring Van Jones, Chu, and many other anti oil anti american commies who have ingrained idealogical beliefs that AGW/CO2 is destroying the world results in exactly where we are today. Chu who jokingly heads the DOE owns no car. Openly stated he wants higher gas prices. This is who our president hired for our energy needs. The November elections will be the greatest defeat in the history of elections for the obama administration and the socialist democrat communists who support him.

“And why aren’t the pubbies pushing bills to open drilling in ANWR and offshore RIGHT NOW??”

This was tried last year and many times before, but they dont get past Senate filibusters.

Also, when we do pass something, like Keystone, Obama vetos it.

Its a plain fact: OBAMA IS LYING.
“Everywhere” was can ... but he stops ANWR, offshore, and stopped research drilling for oil shale in the rockies.

You can comment at TheHill and make your point there.

Well, as I understand it, since that section has been broken out of the rest and does not cross an international border, little bammy's permission is not needed.

But don't waste your time trying to tell The Won, Hussein The Magnificent, that they don't need his Royal Decree to build it.

First off, don't let all of this flurry detract you from the Major aim of this year, is to get rid of Obama. Period. Next, I just read an article about the new oil field just uncovered in West Texas. I think the name of it was the Bear Creek field, and it is estimated to contain enough oil for the U.S. for the next 250 years. Three or four times as large as the Baaken, and it is supposed to be ready for drilling in 2013.

“Chu who jokingly heads the DOE owns no car”

People like this also generally want shaved ice from Antarctica, baby White Silverleaf tea, Fresh, baby spinach. Fresh picked Gogi berries. Italian white truffles, Napoleon brandy and aged Kobe beef —flown and driven to them, personally prepared and practically served to them by a personal waiter.

These are the people now working all over the WH and Capitol. Agreed?

This will not end well.
