You have to remember Bush, Sr. fired everybody in the Reagan White House after he was elected. Romney will not be asking Newt to work with him. Romney is the bluest of the blue blood Republicans. A grass-roots conservative reformer of middle class origin like Newt is anathema to him. There is nothing in Romney’s real agenda that has anything in common with Newt’s. It’s more likely they’d be in direct conflict with each other.

the way romney so cooly and calmly ordered a hit on Newt in florida, to destroy him, not debate him, makes me think you are absolutely right. Though, Newt being in direct conflict with Romney while romney is in office is what I have been thinking about. Like using the first 4 years of the romney term, to develop and procreate a true revolutionary conservative movement.

I have been reading up on "taking it to the convention" since I knew nothing about that, and it seems Reagan did that to Ford... took on a sitting President. I have a feeling Newt would find real joy leading that kind of movement, and wouldn't necessarily have to be its candidate.

He loves the young conservatives, and he might see such a thing as a true legacy for himself - another band of merry revolutionaries in the image of breitbart and Newt. I would be in bigtime.
