Because of all the national media attention and 'outrage', why don't they just take the evidence to the Grand Jury with a manslaughter charge? If the Grand Jury refuses to indict Zimmerman, then so be it.

Not sure, but my educated guess would be because Zimmerman could sue the crap out of them. The DA recommended no charges due to total lack of evidence. Are you suggesting they should have ignored that and just railroaded a possibly innocent man because of some phony, trumped up outrage. That's like giving in to terrorists. Not right.

I did not know that. Thanks for the info.

No. A police chief won't be a police chief long by ignoring the DA. Thanks again.

A grand jury will investigate the death of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed 17-year-old shot to death in a gated community in Florida on Feb. 26, state attorney Norm Wolfinger announced Tuesday.

The Justice Department and FBI have opened a civil rights investigation, and the local prosecutor before he quit the case convened a grand jury April 10 to determine whether to charge Zimmerman.

Martin’s parents said the police chief’s action wasn’t enough, and that Zimmerman should be taken into custody.

“We want an arrest, we want a conviction and we want him sentenced for the murder of my son,” Martin’s father, Tracy, said to the fiery crowd of protesters at Fort Mellon Park.

News of the police chief’s decision to step aside spread quickly among the protesters, many of whom showed up more than two hours before the start of the rally. They chanted “The chief is gone. Zimmerman is next.”
