Sandra Fluke Says She Didn't Know Target Sells Birth Control Pills for $9
CNS News ^ | 3/22/2012 | Elizabeth Harrington

CNSNews.com) – Thirty-year-old Georgetown Law student Sandra Fluke, who told a House Steering and Policy Committee hearing convened by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi last month that contraception can cost a student $3,000 during law school, told CNSNews.com on Tuesday that she did not know that the Target store 3 miles from the Georgetown Law campus sells a month's supply of birth control pills for just $9.

Target advertises the $9-per-month birth control pills on its website, and CNSNews.com confirmed and reconfirmed that the $9 pills were in fact available at the Target near Georgetown Law.

“Without insurance coverage, contraception can cost a woman over $3,000 during law school," Fluke testified before Pelosi's panel.

"For a lot of students who, like me, are on public interest scholarships, that’s practically an entire summer’s salary," Fluke testified. "Forty percent of female students at Georgetown Law report struggling financially as a result of this policy.”

“Just last week, a married female student told me she had to stop using contraception because she couldn’t afford it any longer,” Fluke testified. “Women employed in low-wage jobs without contraceptive coverage face the same choice. You might respond that contraception is accessible in lots of other ways. Unfortunately, that's not true.”

On Tuesday, Fluke spoke at an event at the U.S. Capitol in celebration of women’s history month. After the event, CNSNews.com asked Fluke: “Were you aware of the Target store that’s 3 miles from Georgetown Law that sells a month’s supply of birth control pills for $9 a month without insurance coverage? Were you aware of that?”

Fluke said: “So, I’m not familiar with specific department store policies. I know that some generic forms of contraception are less expensive than others and that that has been widely reported. But what has not been widely reported is that many women cannot use those forms of contraception.”

“Women have different types of medical needs that require much more expensive forms,” she said. “One woman contacted me. She was very, very upset that that quote was being emphasized because she has a genetic condition that requires her to use contraception that costs $1,500.”

“So, this is medicine,” said Fluke. “It’s not one-size-fits-all, and while it’s great that some women can access more affordable contraception, contraception needs to be accessible and affordable for all of the women who need all of the different kinds.”

CNSNews.com had initially reported on Mar. 5 that the pharmacy at the Target 3 miles from the Georgetown Law campus offers a month's supply of Tri-Sprintec, the generic form of the birth-control pill Ortho Tri-Cyclen, for $9 for people without health insurance coverage for the pills.

In addition, CNSNews.com confirmed that a CVS pharmacy only two blocks from the Georgetown Law campus sells a month’s supply of the same generic birth control pills for $33.

Tri-Sprintec is an FDA-approved prescription drug. The Physician’s Desk Reference (PDR) says it is for "prevention of pregnancy" and “treatment of moderate acne” in women 15 and older.

About 20 years ago some homeless advocate made the statement on, IIRC, the Donahue Show that there are 30 million homeless in America. The press was all abuzz about “we must do something”. Then someone, IIRC it was Rush, started asking where he got the number from. Eventually the story grew and the guy answered it, and I paraphrase: “I pulled it out of my a$$.

Kinda like Fluke’s $3,000.

She actually has a boyfriend who is a rich socialist, an upper West Side twit, who never earned a dime in his life and is living off the money his grandfather made. What a surprise.

I call her The Slut. And the word “A” does not apply. She has earned the word, “The”.

I meant WalMart and heck I didn’t know that Target had them too. Not that I need any. Just figure how much money I’ve saved over the years by having a vasectomy. LOL! Of course had I put that money aside every time the situation called for it I’d probably have about 20 bucks by now.

Other ‘things’ Sandra Fluke probably doesn’t know:

1) Milk comes from a cow
2) Che was a sadistic killer
3) Wealth is created by individuals not the government
4) Sarah Palin NEVER said “I can See Russia from my House”
5) The 1% also includes much of Hollywood Actors
6) The Democrat Party founded the KKK
7) Many ‘people of color’ are BIG 2nd amendment supporters
8) Most Americans view lawyers almost as favorable as a pimp or NAMBLA member
9) Quite a few laws have biblical origins
10) Margret Sanger was a racist Nazi.

I think the dirty little secret of this miss is she’s officially part of the 1%...
And excuse me but since when is it all about BC pills?
Condoms at the local drug store need no prescription...
or is it just too hard to figure out for these future members of the ABA?

Some of the country thinks she’s a joke. Some think she’s a martyr and they will laud her and pay her well. It’s a boost.

But the pills sold at Target are not organic, gluten -free, mercury free, free trade, alternative energy, non-global warming causing, no animals were harmed in their making birth control pills.

You see those kind of pills do cost $3,000.

She can’t do math and apparently doesn’t have a clue....good thing she’s going to be a lawyer. I’d hate to think of her in a profession that actually requires a working brain.

Contraception that costs $1500???? What is it a solid gold chastity belt? Come on this woman throws around stories like cow chips on a sunny Okalahoma afternoon. I do not believe one word that comes from her nouth. Show me the evidence. What medical condition prevents someone from taking the standard form of contraception?....For way less than $1500 that person could use a diaphram or an IUD ( yes they do exist) or even the rythmn method.
