President Barack Obama weighed in on the "tragedy" of Trayvon Martin's death last week, saying it is "absolutely imperative" that all levels of government investigate "every aspect" of how the unarmed boy was shot.
"I can only imagine what these parents are going through," Obama said, adding "When I think about this boy I think about my own kids."
"I am glad that not only is the Justice Department is looking into this, but the Governor of the State of Florida has put together a task force [to investigate the case]," Obama said. Obama carefully avoided any discussion of George Zimmerman, the man who shot Martin, and has controversially avoided arrest under Florida's "Stand Your Ground" self-defense laws.
"My main message is to the parents: If I had a son he'd look like Trayvon. I think they are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves."
Not according to the AP. They made a point of saying Zimmerman was ‘white Hispanic’.
As such, that makes the President ‘white African’, or worse, since ‘white African’ generally refers to a white person from South Africa.

Reports are that Santorum has now stated that Zimmerman should have been arrested and Obama is pulling the race card. This is disgraceful. It goes against the Rule of K Law and our justice system. Calling Zimmerman a "hothead" adds nothing to our understanding of the facts in this case.

The name “Zimmerman” screams “white Jew”, which is who I thought this involved until I read this thread on FD. You can bet the Dems will focus on the name, not on any photo, because it is so easy to create the image of a rich white guy targeting a poor black kid. The Republicans need to put Zimmerman’s photo front and centre when they are making any remarks about this tragedy, or they’ll allow the Dems to perpetrate an enormous fraud. This incident clearly had nothing to do with white on black racism. It likely had nothing to do with racism of any kind, but the Republicans need to remind the media that this was a confrontation between members of the Dems two favourite ethnic voting blocks.
