“Its amazing how many people seem to be afraid of solitude, 1/2 the people in the grocery store are talking on cell phones....need to tell the world about our day and everytime we take a bath, twitter, facebook, cell phones, never alone to enjoy being yourself...to think etc.”

Well done!

Like I said earlier, FB is gay (as in uber-lame)!

Power turn on, on the tractor for attachments you use, like a post hole digger, but you gotta be careful, it can kill you if you get a piece of clothing pulled into the post hole digger when the PTO is on....any power accessory that you use your tractor for...

Related to oblamer objecting to union organizing. "USA Today" now requires anyone wanting to comment on stories or even give a thumbs up on the comments of others (thumbs down is no longer allowed - so all the tard comments look SO popular) to use their Facebook account to comment.

People were just as outspoken on USAT as they are on FR but now they know who you are. You can try using a fake name but they tie the registration process to a working phone number - preferably one that can receive text messages to complete the process. So they make a pretty good attempt to tie your fake name to a phone that is at least in your household or belonging to family or close friend.

Yet still the sheeple keep signing up.

We used to call them “power take off” - same device.

I would walk out of an interview before I would let them look at my FB account ....

Before you did that, ask them if a prospective employee readily hands over that personal information, what makes them think that as an employee, that person wouldn't readily hand over private company information to someone else.

If you’re still on FB, here’s how to get off:

http://www.wikihow.com/Permanently-Delete-a-Facebook-Account

They’ve removed that option from the User’s CP, now. This link still works to get off, but it’ll take 10-14 days. Sorry I can’t help you with getting-off the other sites. I was never on them.

I am on Linked In, but use it strictly for professional networking. If that becomes a problem, I’ll reconsider my decision.

I avoid FB and its alternatives.

Here’s why being on any of them - FR excepted - is NOT a good idea:

your right its the same thing....I say patato and you say potato. But those post hole diggers are something I was always careful with...hubby drove the tractor and I directed and help the tip stay steady until he turned on the PTO...then it was just keeping it steady...drove him nuts and he figured I'd get chewed up in the thing and at that time I had refused to learn to drive the tractor...Once I did, I loved it...easy and quick to plow out the long circle drive way...could get it done before he came home from work. It took his fun away...

All you guys that use power tools keep it a secret the fun they are to use when you know how to safely use them...Even after all these years I still respect the chain saw and table saw and miter saw when I use them. Don't want to lose any body parts, I need them until death...

“...losing 34,000 subscribers/month...”

Zuckerberg is going to become *Pucker-berg* if his crappy spy empire crumbles. What’s he worth? $900 million?

Oh, I understand the potential issues. However, as I stated I use LinkedIn for professional networking. I have a consulting business, and need to maintain and expand contacts in order to grow the business. As long as I am strictly proper in my use of LinkedIn, then that site should be less problematic.

Just like I am careful in my communications on Freerepublic, I am cautious in all of my public statements.

In the end, not being visible can be as much of a problem (professionally) as being too visible can be (personally).

JMO. YMMV.

Thanks.

I couldn’t imagine a large private employer taking on the lawsuit risk involved in making a request like that.

As to the multiple government agencies that asked for passwords.....

I’m a little surprised since “Privacy” and “Discrimination” issues are an institutional religion for those folks.

On the other hand, it’s not their money, and no one in government ever gets fired or demoted, so why would they care?

Yes the most minor injury I ever heard of - happened to my aunt - was a broken leg. Just as all guns are loaded - all PTOs are just waiting to grab your clothes and pull you in.

We were lucky with the PTO but hubby was putting a new motor on the hay elevator and got his hand caught, came in the house holding his hand and wouldn't look at it. I, being an nurse sat him down at the sink and checked it out. Only needed a few stitches..so up to the doctors office we went. chewed up flesh looks nasty...farming is a dangerous profession...

A broken leg is much worse. GG

You're welcome.

FB is garbage, asking for access one’s account is also garbage. I'm sure when FB can figure out how to make $$$ off of this, they'll allow “whoever” to access accounts, it'll be an addendum to the TOS.

Also, if a business is that hellbent on accessing one’s FB account (sounds like someone here on FR, eh GonzoGOP and CoadToad), they'll present it as optional (like those AA self identification thingies) during the interviewing process. If you refuse, you'll simply be eliminated for consideration for the position.
