Obama Tells US Troops at Korean DMZ: 'You Guys Are At Freedom's Frontier'

[Pic in URL] U.S. President Barack Obama looks through binoculars on Sunday to see North Korea from Observation Post Ouellette in the Demilitarized Zone, the tense military border between the two Koreas.

SEOUL -- President Barack Obama was greeted with cheers from U.S. troops as he visited the dining hall at Camp Bonifas at the start of his tour of the Demilitarized Zone on the Korean peninsula and told them that they were protecting "freedom's frontier."

Obama talked about how proud he was of the troops and joked about the NCAA basketball tournament. While, the president has visited the Republic of Korea twice before, this was his first time observing the 38th parallel and members of North Korea’s military.

At Camp Bonifas, Obama told U.S. troops that they are part of a "long line" of soldiers who have enabled South Korea to prosper. "You guys are at freedom's frontier," he said. Advertise | AdChoices

While at the DMZ, the president spoke to South Korean troops, then went to Observation Post Ouellette, the closest post overlooking the demarcation line on the most heavily guarded border in the world. The observation post is about 25 miles northwest of Seoul inside the DMZ and just 100 yards from demarcation line. The North Korean army is visible from this observation post and it was expected that the North Koreans would jam cell phone signals while the president was visiting the area.

How ironic.

It is as if two equal, parallel universes are merging right there on the DMZ.

Just as in the Democratic Republic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea), a little dictator steeped in doctrinaire socialism, in way over his head, takes on the spot guidance inspection tours, pointing at people and things and giving the impression of directing orders, the military officers staff are used as props (thinking to themselves "We have to put up with THIS sh*t!?") and have to force Potemkin Village-smiles, and when the inspection area is cleared of the "VIP" and his toadies, back in their barracks they whisper about what a POMPOUS, IGNORANT ASSHAT they just had to receive as a staged-prop visitor who could care less about them.

What the “one” meant is that the Norks are looking for freedom and the U.S. soldiers, in his mind, are to keep them from finding it. Obama’s idea of freedom is having govt. control every aspect of your life thereby freeing you from thinking.

I bet he is sooooooooo excited. He can wear that “”commander in chief” patch on his jacket. Do they let him use a decoder ring while there?

Obama's visit takes place as North Koreans mark the end of the 100-day mourning period for longtime leader Kim Jong Il, who died of a heart attack in December.

How nice of him to honor the mourning period for one of his mentors....
