I recently read David Horowitz’s autobiography, “Radical Son.” This is going on the very short list of books that shape my perspective on events in a comprehensive way, with Thomas Sowell’s “Knowledge and Decisions” and John Gatto’s “Underground History of American Education.”
Whittaker Chambers’s “Witness” did the same for many readers a generation or so older than I. Horowitz is older than I am, but younger than my parents, and his book describes the events of my lifetime in a unique way.
Horowitz is a very brave and honorable man.
David Kengor has written a revelatory masterpiece called “Dupes” that should also be on your short list.
Enjoy.
