THe US justpayed $50,000 for 17 deaths, $11,000 for 6 wounded. That amounts to just over $900,000!!1 This is an area that is a Taliban stronghold. THe normal compensaton is $2,000 for deaths and $1,000 for casualty, which they've already been paid. WOWSA......what a payoff.

I had noticed this before, but hadn't posted about it. I sure hope they found the right families to give our money (I mean obama's stash) away to. In this article, the farmer who allegedly lost 11 family members is Mohammed Wazir.Grieving Afghan Father: 'All My Dreams Are Buried'

.............."Muhammad Wazir. He lost his mother, his wife, a sister-in-law, a brother, a nephew, his four daughters and two of his sons in last week's mass shooting in two villages.

"My little boy, Habib Shah, is the only one left alive, and I love him very much," says Wazir.

The boy cried next to his father as Wazir spoke by cellphone. The 4-year-old is his favorite, Wazir says, and that's why he took the boy as he traveled to the eastern side of Kandahar province last week. While they were away, tragedy struck their tiny mud brick village in Panjwai district, southwest of Kandahar City."....................

His picture is shown in the story referring to the big money payout. Afghans: US paid $50,000 per shooting spree death

BUT WAIT! We have another dude who lays claim to the same dead family! An Afghan Comes Home to a Massacre

.........."Once a believer in the offensive against the Taliban, he is now insistent that the Americans get out. “I don’t know why they killed them,” said Mr. Samad, a short, feeble man with a white beard and white turban, as he struggled in an interview to come to terms with the loss of his wife, four daughters between the ages of 2 and 6, four sons between 8 and 12, and two other relatives. "................

And here's Abdul Samad...he's much older than Wazir, so hard to mistake the two. .

So who got the money? Was it just a mistake on the press's part?

Thanks for the ping.

Yeah, the moose limbs learned long ago, in both Iraq and Afghanistan, how easy it is to game America out of “solatia” payments. And, of course, the bureaucrats in charge of doling out the solatia payments find it a lot easier just to write the checks than to actually confirm or verify anything.

And one more tidbit I found in this article,

......"Mr. Samad said outside the military base, known as Camp Belambay, with outraged villagers who came to support him. They transported the bodies of Mr. Samad’s family members, as well as the other victims, and the burned blankets that had covered them as proof of the awful crime that had occurred. "..........................

So was our troops first exposure to the "massacre" when the Afghanis brought the bodies to the camp? Did US troops ever see the scene before the bodies were moved? If not, who knows where these bodies come from and who they are? We already have two people, one 35, one 60, claiming to be the father/husband of most of the women/children.

And this snippet,
................"Two of the women and some of the children had been stabbed, she and other villagers said, and blankets had been laid over them and set alight — to hide the stab wounds, she said."...................
could also have been done by someone else to try to hide manner of death or something else.
