In NC a person with a CCW permit is allowed to carry a weapon except in the places where it is not allowed.

So, here, a person allowed to carry - is allowed to carry.

The typical MO in my neighborhood is for the perp to walk through the neighborhood during daylight working hours. Ring a doorbell, if nobody answers kick in the front door and take what you can walk away with.

So people walking who look like they don’t “belong” get second and third looks.

And before you get huffy about “belong” I live in a professional neighborhood that is majority black so there’s plenty of black youths walking around - just not during school hours. And due to the health kick these days the majority of folks walking around early morning and evenings are black also.

BTW - the leadership of our NW is black as well as the Garden Club.

Thanks Pete, and stay safe!

“The alleged action of a ‘self-appointed neighborhood watchman’ last month in Sanford, FL significantly contradicts the principles of the Neighborhood Watch Program."

Carmen Caldwell, the Executive Director of Citizens’ Crime Watch of Miami-Dade: “In no program that I have ever heard of does someone patrol with a gun in their pocket. Every city and municipality has their own policies. Here in Miami-Dade we train people only to be the eyes and ears of their communities. Not to follow and most definitely not to carry a weapon.”
