Conservative Cuccinelli or Moderate Bolling for Governor?
Cuccinelli BIG TIME!
Me too!
But, just like this year, I’ll go Pubbie over ANY demonrat...
Cuccinelli, without a doubt. But if Bolling’s the GOP nom, he’ll have my vote in the general.
Cuccinelli of course
Sorry, Ken, but the Scotch-Irish coal miners of SW Virginia and the German farmers of the Shenandoah Valley will be most reluctant to vote for somebody with an Italian surname. It may be terribly bigoted and completely reprehensible, but it’s the cold, hard truth.
Nor does Ken stand a chance in Fairfax County, even though it’s his home. The “moderates” and independents there went for McDonnell, altho’ just barely. But Ken’s strong social conservatism will be a turn-off for them.
Now perhaps Ken still might be the favorite at this point for the GOP nomination. I jes’ dunno. But he’d definitely be underdog in the general election unless the Dhimm’s should be so stupid as to nominate somebody like Terry McAuliffe.
Both good men. I’m sorry to see them squaring off against each other.
Liberal Clintonite Terry McAuliffe is most certainly running. He should get the labor backing.
Also, rumors are that Mark Warner may run and if elected, appoint his replacement to the Senate.
It will be a tough race...we need our STRONGEST candidate, that is Ken Cuccinelli!!
Hawthorn, voters in the Shenandoah Valley and SW VA are among the most conservative in VA. Both districts went for McCain over Obama.
Because of these values, Ken Cuccinelli will do VERY WELL here.
In 1996 and 2008, we picked our Republican Presidential candidates based on it being “their turn to run”. Look what it got us...Clinton and Obama!
We must put our BEST candidate forward.
>> voters in the Shenandoah Valley and SW VA are among the most conservative in VA <<
Of course. Which means they tend to vote for people like themselves, as opposed to Italian-Americans from Fairfax County.
Now if they can overcome that prejudice and vote for Cucinelli, then I say, Great! But being coldly realistic, I still think Boling will have the edge.
FREEP THIS POLL ***PING!*** FRmail me if you want to be added or removed from the Fearless Poll-Freeping Freepers Ping list. And be sure to ping me to any polls that need Freepin', if I miss them. (looks like a medium volume list) (gordongekko909, founder of the pinglist, stays on the list until his ghost signs up for the list)
If the election were held today, who would you vote for in the Republican primary for governor in 2013?
Atty. Gen. Ken Cuccinelli
(64%, 574 Votes)
Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling
(36%, 319 Votes)
Total Voters: 893
