The above was the first hour -- and very irritating to hear. The second hour was probably the biggest radio delight that I've had since the 1940s.
As is their wont they get reports on big stories from orgainzation reporters. This morning is was from SCOTUS. First time on Imus for the reporter. I doubt that the reporter expected questions and if there were questions from the "DJ" they would be like "What is a supreme court?"
Well Imus as usual immediately asked a substantive question. The reporter stumbled badly -- it was so obvious -- and painful to hear.
Immediately Imus became irritated. Not known at the time by us listeners Imus and staff were using the off-air intercom to belittle the reporter. You could hear however some of the staff laughing. The reporter obviously heard it to.
Still stumbling trying to answer the first question the reporter was interrupted by Imus asking him to explain tax vs. penalties. That did it for the reported he was totally agitated and lost. He finally said, "It's over your head" and ended the session.
After that was hilarious. The staff had a riot. Imus was still angry and had to be bleeped but quickly joined the riot of laughs. It was a delight to listen in.
(I think that it is great that Savage is reading from the new book but if he orders us one more time to go buy his book I'm going over to Groucho.)
