"Heldentenor" is German for "Heroic tenor". This is the voice type necessary to sing the most dramatic Wagnerian tenor roles - Siegfried, Lohengrin, Parsifal, etc. - and some Italian roles - Otello, Radames, etc.
The note he hits at the end of the song is a B flat. He makes it sounds easy, even with his dark timbre, and he's only 17! I don't know if he's interested in opera, but if he is, he needs to be accepted into the Guildhall immediately so some charlatan doesn't get hold of him and ruin this glorious natural instrument.

Thank you. What a glorious way to start this beautiful day!
That was wonderful, thanks for posting!
Can either you, keypro, or Dr. Thorne recommend music to buy that is similar to this? Opera, male/female duet, fresh, maybe with a heldentenor? I want to hear more music like this. Today!
His voice put the orchestra to shame. Orchestra should have turned its volume down.
Just beautiful!! I loved it. Thanks for posting this.
Saw this yesterday and was totally blown away. Not knowing a thing about music, I do agree with Simon - I wasn’t a big fan of the gal.
Well, that makes me a bit weepy. Opera houses are waiting for this young man. Aside from Simon, I find judges on these shows so dopey.
That gal is a good friend!
Wonderful!
Ping to a Friend..
Publius, I hope you enjoy this!
Thanks for posting. I’ve been crying like a baby since watching this. So deeply touching. I never expected something so Beautiful. Unforgettable.
wow just wow
Unbelievable. He is absolutely amazing. He was shaking the whole time. That was literally a life changing moment.
God gives everyone gifts. But it is always amazing to see how certain gifts can move hearts, when engaged. The young man has an amazing voice.
Great post! There are so many things I might miss without my FRiends helping out. ;-)
Jonny - maybe something for the Idol ping list? I admit I miss Simon ...
