CANTON
When a man tried to rob a barbershop and starting shooting up the place, one of the barbershop employees fired back.
Another employee was shot in the leg before the robber ran away, said Capt. Dave Davis, who heads the police departments detective bureau.
Adam Trussel, 32, of Canton, was taken to Aultman Hospital with a gunshot wound to the right leg, Davis said. His condition was not known early Thursday.
The robbery occurred about 8 p.m. Wednesday at the A&R Barber Shop at 1256 Maryland Ave. SW, he said.
A man walked into the barbershop carrying a gun and tried to rob the business, and at some point, began firing, Davis said. One of the employees had a gun and started shooting back. Davis said he did not know how many employees or customers were in the shop at the time.
The robber fled with nothing, he said.
He was described as a white man who is about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 160 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. No clothing description was available.
Davis asked anyone with information about the incident to call detectives at 330-489-3144.
So how much cash could one expect to find at a barbershop? (Unless the barber was a bookie and had to make some big payouts.)
Never knew a barber who wasn’t running a sports book on the side. Actually more like his primary source of income. When hair trends went longer, a fellow has to make up for it somehow.
Sometimes they just need to score some Skittles money.
