Romney tells a ‘humorous' tale about how his dad laid off workers
The Examiner ^ | 3/29/12 | Ryan Witt

Some people tell knock, knock jokes, other like to recall funny movie lines. Today, Mitt Romney told a “joke” to voters about how his father closed a factory in Michigan and then tried to hide it from voters. Romney narrated what he described as a “humorous” tale in a conference call with Wisconsin voters. The full story, as transcribed by the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, can be read below,

“One of most humorous I think relates to my father. You may remember my father, George Romney, was president of an automobile company called American Motors … They had a factory in Michigan, and they had a factory in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and another one in Milwaukee, Wisconsin,” said Romney. “And as the president of the company he decided to close the factory in Michigan and move all the production to Wisconsin. Now later he decided to run for governor of Michigan and so you can imagine that having closed the factory and moved all the production to Wisconsin was a very sensitive issue to him, for his campaign.”

The reporter goes on to describe how Romney was “laughing” while telling the story.

The Republicans should be well positioned to win the election, and they’re rushing headlong to nominate a clueless gaffe machine who would get beaten like a drum even by the most feckless president since Carter.

You'd alsmost think they were doing it on purpose, eh?

Someone needs to ask Romney “Do you think before you speak, or does it just roll out with no brain waves involved?” We don't need a non-thinker for a president. He'll get us in all kinds of trouble.
I'm for the best thinker in the country....and that would be Newt Gingrich.

I agree, it is obvious to me that the GOP leadership desperately wants to lose.

I can only assume they know everything is about to do down, and don’t want a Republican at the helm when it does. Maybe they even think a brother in the white house will help keep the natives from getting to restless, who knows.

it is obvious to me that the GOP leadership desperately wants to lose.

They have the same mindset that thought Wendel Wilkie, Alf Landon and (egad)Herbert Hoover were the perfect candidates to defeat FDR.

They remember Goldwater losing in 1964 but just can't seem to remember Reagan's landslide victories in 1980 and 1984.

Then our choice is clear. The Tea Party becomes a REAL party. We draft Sarah or someone like her, and make Mitt come in third. The GOP Going Out Of Business Sale would then start 3rd. week of November.
