Is Mitt Romney The Father of Gay Marriage? Twenty-Four Reasons Why He Is

As Mitt Romney prepares for his second presidential campaign and gay marriage threatens to undermine America’s Judeo-Christian culture, there’s a raging debate about the role he played in instituting gay marriage in Massachusetts during his gubernatorial term. This is important because Governor Romney has positioned himself as a champion of traditional values and claims to have been an opponent of homosexual marriage his entire career.

When the Massachusetts Supreme Court issued a decision in favor of homosexual marriage, — the Goodridge case — Romney unilaterally ordered his state agencies to implement homosexual marriage in Massachusetts. The court did not order him to do this nor had the legislature codified this ruling. Combined with a promise by President Obama to repeal the federal Defense of Marriage Act, this action by Romney has led significantly contributed to the spread of homosexual marriage nationwide.

Make no mistake; Romney’s action was utterly illegal. In four different parts of the Massachusetts Constitution, it is clearly stated that only the legislature can change laws and one section specifically states that the marriage statutes are determined by the legislature, not by the courts. Even the Supreme Court itself stated that it could not order the legislature to act. All Romney had to do was to declare the court had no authority to enforce its unconstitutional opinion and ignore its decision.

But instead of doing that, Romney abruptly claimed the court opinion was now the law of the land and ordered his Town Clerks and Justices of the Peace to marry homosexuals — even though the legislature never acted to codify the ruling. Indeed, according to a Fox News/AP story, the attorney for the homosexual plaintiffs in Goodridge, held the view that the legislature would have to codify the Goodridge ruling:

The more articles like this that appear, the more likely the grand poobahs at the GOP will want to run him. He will pick up the independents and many Dems, they will argue and we will have to hold our noses and pull the lever for him. At least, I will. ABO.

I won't.

For me it is is ABO and ABM.

With Mitt I get a slightly slower destruction of America and the total destruction of the only political party with any conservative leanings at all, the GOP.

You go ahead and play Russion Roulette, I'm not playing that game.

” Romney unilaterally ordered his state agencies to implement homosexual marriage in Massachusetts. The court did not order him to do this nor had the legislature codified this ruling. “

That is blatantly, utterly, and despicably false. I was here, and I know exactly what happened and what didn’t. I don’t support Romney for the nomination, but this is simply an out-and-ouut lie.

When a man runs for President of the United State of America, I think you should be able to trust anything they say. when a man has said things other than what he says now, just a few years ago, it is time to vote against him.
Goodbye Romney!

I’m just sick and tired of the establishment forcing these RINO’s on us in order to get a so called bigger tent.

It hasn’t worked, it will not work again and these north east beltway elitist can’t get it into their heads because they go to these elitist cocktail parties with the homo’s liberal cross dressers and self mutilating types.

This should have been an easy election and it would have been if they had defended Sarah in 2008 and then had her and Col Allen West on the ticket.

The left could never had said the right hates blacks, or women as we would have had both on the ticket plus it would have brought my state FL into our side and the most important aspect would have been two people who have the guts to take obama on and would have been good for this country.

The TRUTH is that gay “marriage” STILL isn’t legal in Massachusetts!

TUESDAY, MARCH 16, 2010
Confirmed Today: Gay Marriage STILL Not Legal in Mass.!
For years now — since 2005 — the homosexual lobby has filed and refiled its bill to legalize “gay marriage” in Massachusetts. They know that the law as it now stands refers to “man/woman”, “husband/wife” relationships as marriage. Today, the Judiciary Committee once again sent the bill to “study” — meaning, they killed it. But the very existence of this bill over the years confirms that we are correct that “gay marriage” has never been made legal in Massachusetts.

SHELVED TODAY:
House Bill 1708
AN ACT TO PROTECT MASSACHUSETTS FAMILIES THROUGH EQUAL ACCESS TO CIVIL
MARRIAGE
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 207 is hereby amended by adding the
following new section:—
Section 37A. Any person who otherwise meets the eligibility requirements of this chapter may
marry any other eligible person regardless of gender.

Why would the Judiciary Committee continue to bury this bill? We believe they don’t want to draw attention to the fact that all the “gay marriages” since 2004 are fraudulent.

They don’t want the citizens to focus on the overreach by the Supreme Judicial Court. They don’t want the citizens to remember that the Court (unconstitutionally) ordered the Legislature to change the marriage statute in 2003 — and the Legislature failed to act. And they don’t want the citizens to focus on the overreach by then-Governor Romney, who without any Constitutional or statutory authority ordered the Department of Public Health to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, and ordered Town Clerks and Justices of the Peace to perform these illegal “marriages”.

Same-sex “marriage” is still NOT legal in Massachusetts, and was NOT created by the Supreme Judicial Court’s Goodridge ruling.

In fact, it was Governor Mitt Romney who was ultimately responsible for same-sex “marriages” taking place. The Supreme Judicial Court only issued an opinion and advised the Legislature to act (which it never did). Even the Court acknowledged that it had no power to change the law.

Governor Romney created these “marriages” through an unconstitutional and illegal directive to his Department of Public Health (to print new “marriage” licenses), and through his legal counsel threatened to fire any Town Clerk or Justice of the Peace who failed to implement the (non-existent) “new law”. He was not required by any constitutional mandate to do these things. On the contrary, his actions clearly violated his oath to uphold the laws of Massachusetts.
