The round they are talking about purchasing is a +P+ high power round that will wear the rails, springs and other internal parts. This is a very high powered not for practice round. It has nothing to do with the rifling. Its a hot load and a not for practice round. A lot of people when firing this hot of a round will develop a flinch which is another reason they do not use this round for training. This round is used for a kill round only.

If you need any more training tips on proper use of firearms and ammo let me know.

Wrong. Police dept, FBI and everybody else does not use full house ammo for training. It beats you up and wears on your weapon. And its hard on the backstops of your range. If we were talking about a 7.62 X 51 in 168 grain boattail round at 600 meters as a sniper yes you use a full house round. But we are talking about .40 cal which is for a handgun not a rifle. Did you understand what you were reading that this round is a frangible? Plus most of them don’t even qualify quarterly. Only SWAT and special response teams. Most of them are lucky to qualify once year and they are lucky to hit the broad side of a bard if somebody attacks them.

I’m a Border Patrol Agent and a firearms instructor for DHS, so I think I have a pretty good idea of what I’m talking about. DHS uses hollow points for training. The same rounds Agents use in the field for duty carry.

Like I stated earlier, this is a non issue.

On MPDC (DC Police) we would burn our duty ammo for qualification as well. That way we qualified and rotated out our ammo at the same time.
